I see some changes since my last visit. Most notably a change of era. Worked the yard at Ft Dodge quite a few times. Thanks for the video!

I grew up in Hayfield, MN. My Grandfather and Step-Dad both worked the turns between Hayfield and Austin. The CGW yard, roundhouse, and depot were my playground. Seeing these trains really took me back. Thanks for a GREAT video.

Great video, as always, Jason! That is a huge layout! September 4th, 1967 was an important day for me in two ways: (1) I started kindergarten (2) I met the kid who would become my #1 all-time best friend for the next 28 years. He passed away in 1995. I hope someday my layout looks that good!

Good to see my home-state represented accurately, especially back then. Even though I’m far to young (14) to have known how Iowa looks back then, the fields look the same haha. Great video, would love to see some more of this layout. Also good to see the CGW yard in Fort Dodge (where I live) accurately represented, as I sit down there a lot and watch the CN trains. Everything looks so familiar, especially Eagle Grove.

Cool as all getout! Like their brilliant red paint scheme. I need to learn about this railroad. Weren't they big on trailer traffic?

In fact CGW was the first railroad to offer TOFC service during the 1930s. Most TOFC service was in front of the train along with manifest traffic to fill out the train's tonnage.

@@scoobycarr5558 Seems like Trains Magazine had an article about this railroad back in the mid-80s. Had a good photo of F units hauling tied down trailers. Fronts of trailers were rounded off for turning clearance on the road, so was a very old photo.

Thanks for posting. It has been way too many years since I have seen Mike, much less his railroad. Was the Dave running the freight Dave Acheson? Sure sounded like him. If you ever run into old AtcheBob, tell 'em I said hi.
