Walthers make the best ! They make the couplers in the way to work suitable with the Walthers rolling stocks marching to the correct level. WALTHERS PROTO IS HEAVY WITH DIECAST UNDERFRAME WHICH GIVES AN EXCELLENT TRACTIVE EFFORT YO DRAW HEAVIER TANKERS BROAD FRONTSCREEN OF ENGINEERS AND RUGGED SHELL BEST THEY DO ALWAYS IN PROTO SERIES 👍

The number boards do in fact light up. If you look in the instruction sheet,you will find the function number that turns them on.

Did real Southern GP-35"s had ALCO trucks under them ???? I know it's possible, but I am unaware of it.

You are correct !!!!! They took from some older models they got rid all. Alco RS-2 and RS-3 If I am remembering correctly. Good catch !!!!! They did looked a little funny.
