UTTER BS in the US you might build a landing strip but an AIRPORT absolutely not that doesn't only require county but FEDERAL approval as flight and airports are governed by the FAA and the EPA would be involved. A) why didn't he remove the stakes and flags when he first saw them? And notify the sheriff of the trespass? B) why don't more of these HOA clowns wind up with the word Louisville on their foreheads? But building an airport on his land? That would involve the FFA the EPA and the state agencies as well as local authorities, as well as The Army Corps Of Engineers ( they have control of protected wetlands) and the paperwork and public hearings would take over a year, and certainly wouldn't just take place overnight!

Stories like this are meant to persuade us that there is and can be justice against corporate and other illicit interests, that you can be made whole against their predations. And mostly to convince the rubes that if they don't find justice it's their own fault for not fighting hard enough, or long enough or having courage to hold out. Nonsense. (It's also pure nonsense in that eminent domain requires an fair value settlement for the takings.... the amount of such settlements are often not what the owners would regard as equitable or fair, but it usually is a significant fraction of market value. The farm land could not be taken under eminent domain without the owner being given such a settlement, and absent that any court of with equity jurisprudence would issue a "show cause" and injunction in a heartbeat).

To all of you saying that building a small airport for like Cessna and small aircrafts you actually don't need the FFA certificates or anything you can build one in your backyard with just local building permits. But unfortunately eminent domain what's the declare that they're going to take the property they have to pay for it in advance what's the project being built it's too late now you're paying extra and we know governments do not want to pay extra. There was a guy in Nebraska that they were going to build a highway off-ramp on his property they started building before they paid for it and he literally charged them $10,000 a square foot. But this being in the US lead would fly you're literally breaking the law and it is legal for somebody to shoot you to stop you from breaking the law
