HD Chevrolet Cruze ZZP Performance Cold Air Intake Install - New from ZZP!

ZZP sent over their all new cold air intake for the Chevy Cruze. I install it on a 2013 Cruze Eco model, and as far as I know, this is the first one out in the wild.

Interesting video. I wonder if ZZP will offer the air box as a standalone add-on for folks who already have the High Flow Intake. All of the parts look the same except for the intake tube. It has a bracket to keep it supported instead of the having air box hold it up. I have a 2012 Cruze Eco(manual) with the High Flow Intake and I am very happy with the difference in sound and performance. The turbo spins up quicker and that alone makes the car feel snappy. I have actually seen an increase in mileage around town. The highway economy is the same as stock and passing is a bit easier. What does the owner of the car think of the kit and performance? I know it's not a huge difference, but I am interested to hear their thoughts on it. I wish I could have let you drive my car and theirs for a side by side comparison.

+Robert thanks for the comments. Not sure about the add-on option, but the entire kit is coming soon. We discussed the drivability, big improvement! Like you said, turbo spools quicker and less downshifting. He likes it and likes the extra noise too. Owner has only had the car two months, so baseline data isn't all there. Overall though, he likes it and plans to keep running it. Thanks for watching!

For sure +1 for plugging the turbo inlet. I have seen so, so many videos with not only that not sealed off, but people with tiny nuts and bolts and caps and whatever that could easily fall in. Always cover the inlet. It's like a car condom. Haha

I did a CPT cai which actually goes into the wheel well so it still gets the cold air and I lost fuel economy as well about 3 mpg and I also had to replace the Turbo when I did the cai so I was expecting an increase. I have a big increase in power, decrease in economy, and I actually burn quite a bit of oil since doing the repairs. I have a 12 eco 6 speed

I hope you realized after you did this install that you didnt need to cut that zip tie that secured the maf sensor connector to the factory airbox. It just pulls up off the airbox.

Also have you ever put a zzp intercooler on your cruze? I just got that kit, but there are no videos online! Now I read the instructions and find out I have to drill 5 holes!

Where do I get extra rubber grommets? I just got my intake delivered after the black Friday sale and I had already emailed zzp days before to ask them if it comes with rubber grommets because I don't have my factory air box because I already have an eBay intake, but it was causing a check engine light, anyways zzp answered back and said it comes with everything I need, but I don't see any rubber grommets in the box! Very frustrating/disappointing!

Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work. The K&N that my 96 impala have the rubber/ plastic not sure what it is that hold the mass flow sensor and the Tube that goes towards the motor is hard and crusty. It's slips off because it's hard probably with the heat. Do you know if someone sells that part? thanks

This is not really a cold air intake, since the "airbox" is really nothing more than a cover. The factory intake is more accurately a cold air intake since it is sealed from the motor compartment. Though I'm pretty sure the ZZP unit flows better. For $239.99 your better off putting in a Trifecta Tune for an additional $60 and yield some 42 switchable horsepower.

i think that's the drainage tube for the old intake. it just drains water onto the ground

+Ruben R well we did an estimate and also based it off the stock mpg calculator. Just slight and to be honest, it wasn't a fully scientific look. Just a rough estimate based on a month of driving. Coulda just drove quicker too, giving more pedal to hear the Turbo :)

I'd have to see a dyno comparison. I seriously doubt there is a significant power gain from these aftermarket intake setups. And if you still have stock tuning, there will be NO power gain due to torque management...

Haha there is no way to get that kinda power out of a 1.4 besides the transmission is only rated to handle 180HP and torque.

@@jacobshort5378 that's fine as long as it's a manual transmission and you dont mind the engine not lasting very long lol. I'm only running a ZZP CAI, ZZP intercooler, ZZP ported throttle body and might get catless downpipe and high flow mid pipe later and might get a ported throttle body, but then I probably wont get a tune because then that will be way over 180HP on my automatic transmission. I also have a big 3 wire kit and a colder 176 degree thermostat from a chevy volt and have had zero coolant leaks ever since! The second gen cruzes actually have 176-180 degree thermostats after all the coolant leaks and turbo failures on the first gen which runs around 220!

@@koreymayo8884 I just recently got a cruze 1.4. Granted stock, but manual transmission. I won't be going insane on it, just minor touches to make it a little peppy. I'm not expecting to be 400hp or anything insane lol. Tune and such. My SUV walks all over my cruze lol and all my SUV has is a simple tune and intake. I keep my fun to simple and easy to not put MAJOR stress on things. A little extra power is all I really want out of my daily cars. If I wanted a race car, I'd build one you know? lol

Why do you think the fuel mileage goes down guy? Because you let more air in and the car compensates by adding more fuel hence the fuel mileage loss.

@@vciq well you just missed the sale! Instead of $240 it was $140 for the ZZP CAI I'm waiting for mine to ship to my house along with a ZZP inter cooler kit for $350 instead of $500 since one of my inter cooler pipes is broken anyways.
