I was there in person, and I can tell you why Hoan should have lost in Top 8. So I look at things from a holistic POV, meaning you can't just be good in one or two aspects. Hoan is a master at catching crowd attention and technical mastery, and his fame on top of that makes it hard to beat him. But the key thing here is, Hoan doesn't dance, like at all. I saw all his rounds and he literally doesn't dance (He also never cyphered with anyone outside of his friend circle). And mind you, executing a style is NOT the same as dancing. Hoan is probably 10 or 11 in the two categories I mentioned on top, but everything else is mid range at best. He kills it in tracks he knows, but does average on music he doesn't know. Meanwhile, Snap has no 10s in any category, but his performance in all categories are in the 7-9 range. On top of that, Snap actually dances way more than Hoan, and connects to the music better. It's literally the same for all of Hoan's matches, he doesn't dance and yet he wins. And the admirers just cheers on like he's god. Breeze got robbed, Snap got robbed, and Jsmooth got robbed as well. How did Jsmooth get robbed? Well, the 2nd day, Jsmooth vs Bibiman was the last Semi final, and they did Popping Finals first in the big room. There was probably 20 mins in between, and it was 3 rounds right away. Again, Hoan has won a bunch of titles, and yes he is good. But he won nothing major in the US, until now, after all this advantage. One of my friends said it the best: "Hoan just played his greatest hits this weekend, but no new stuff".

Being able to dance while maintaining the pop is literally basics, stop giving Hoan a pass just because he's Hoan. If he's not dancing in a dancing battle, then he's not getting the vote. And please don't compare dance as if it was a competitive sport, it just shows that you don't look at the artistic and cultural aspect of dance. Popping literally has so many possibilities, if you think that politics hasn't shaped the way people dance, just to get a win, then you definitely don't get dance. Also, nothing major in the US? You're joking. Step Ya Game Up in NYC, Freestyle Session in LA, and Body Talk in Miami, three big events with high level competitors. It's not the event's problem if no one from Europe or Asia wants to see if they really have what it takes to win in the birthplace of Street Dance.
