What I love about Phosphoru is these aren't #yolo strats with him, like they often would be with us mere mortals. It's super calculated/planned out, so when he acts it's decisive and without hesitation and so it works.

Anyone who dislikes this is just salty. Red Phosphoru and Hoang are legends of the game. The meta is way healthier with their strategic insights. Seriously. Nobody wants to sit and try to get to fast feudal scouts/archers .7 seconds faster than their opponent and out-micro. Having other strats is so good for the game.

I really don't understand when people dislike this strategy, or others, because "xyz". It's a strategy game. Come up with a strategy to beat it. If it's the best strategy, it's the new meta, and then it comes back down to micro/macro, unless the devs decide that this is not the intended way of playing the game and make balance changes to stop it.

I've played Blizzard RTS games for a long time and I've always found it surprising that the AOE2 community never developed extremely cheesy all in strats, something that's extremely popular over there. It took someone like Phosphoru or Hoang to really popularize it. That said, I've only been watching AOE2 games for more than a couple years so maybe I'm not aware of how things were at one point in time.

The reason is that in AoE 2 the buildings have massive HP pools in comparison to blizzard games so only in Castle Age do units become strong enough to be victorious when going all in. Fastest all-in (aside from douches) I can think of is Sicilians abusing the automatic castle age upgrade to their Sergeants to catch enemy off guard. Second would be long-sword rush, but nobody plays that.

Persian douche or just a simple (any civ) TC drop are pretty all in and they've been around for a while now. I think the recent remaster of the game created all these all in opportunities, especially with the new civs.

t90 If you want to do cardio I highly recommend swimming instead if you have access to a pool. Much nicer in the summer and don't have to worry about joint/feet pain. Running is also good but if you don't like it, swimming is a great alternative that also gives you a full body workout.

The most sustainable way to start running is to do it slowly. Don't push yourself. Walk when you feel tired. Your time spent running will slowly increase, and then you can just keep running.

Hera has been receiving messages about so many people adopting Phosphoru build orders and constantly facing idle TCs and losing all the time when they previously had been 50/50 at their elo. Since there is a large discrepancy in gathering resources without techs or civ bonuses (farmer 19.2 stone miner 20..6 gold miner 21.8 and lumberer 23.4) we should see a drop in lumber to 22.4 and gold to 20.8, I am not sure about dropping stone. Since most of these are FC into unique unit using wood and stone. Ratha, war wagons, organ guns, etc In this case it was good deer pushing for PHosphoru and poor countering by Hoang. When you see the castle you know what is coming so why not make skirmishers? Conqs take 24 seconds to create and skirms 22 seconds with 2 ranges he should have had 6 skirm to kill the 3 conqs and then attack villagers. It could have turned the game. Also Hoang's 9 villager who had been on gold never dropped it off so he lost about 150 gold by not doing so.

Uh, getting resilient to pain when you run or workout is NOT true. That is how people get hurt. I have a bad back and bad knees from not working out correctly. Check your form when you run. It should not hurt. Getting sore is one thing but you shouldn't feel any pain when you are running. Don't run until exhaustion. If you feel like your form is getting bad or you are feeling pain, slow down or stop. You don't want to have consistent pain in your 40s. Believe me, it sucks.

In all seriousness, the market is too broken right now and messing up the game. Someone can market up, put a castle in your face, and win the game. If enough people do it, it will be unplayable for many people, especially in the mid elo range. I come home from hard work, wait in the queue, start a game, and lose twice to people doing the exact same thing. After 2 games, 45 minutes or so later, I am pissed and stressed. I don't think that's healthy for most people in the long run. Yes, there are ways to counter this, which I am not sure are feasible, since even players like Hoang cannot defend, no one needs to study other people's games to learn defensive tactics. Most people play the game to enjoy it casually, not to be clowned in an RTS game where a single basic strategy can destroy you.

Drop your elo then. I don't like the game to be too intense either. When my elo gets too high I resign a bunch of ranked games so I can get back with the casual players. I have to try not to win too much and remember to take it easy like I'm playing against a friend who doesn't play the game. It is definitely getting harder to find casual people though as this game tends to attract more and more tryhards.
