Copper pennies are worth more than face value, everyone should hoard every copper pansy that they find.

Roll them up and you'll know exactly how many you have. Each bank box of copper pennies ($25.00 face value) has a net weight of almost exactly 17 pounds.

john tracy I had them rolled up previously but it started to get outta hand with how much rolls I was having to buy cause my bank doesn’t provide them.

Hey brother I actually just started hoarding pennies its videos like these that got inspired to start and hopefully I'm planning on starting a vintage coin collection as well. Thanks for the video 👍 left a like as well

I keep copper pennies that pass through my hands and have been for probably 25 years. I probably have about 35 to 40 pounds of copper pennies, which is only enough to fill up a few large pickle jars. That won't bring me a lot of money, but it's better than nothing. My actual money goes into Junk Silver and small increments of Gold. The bottom line is that when I need money, I'll actually have some, whether it be copper, silver, or gold.

Good thinking, that’s what I’m going for

"....every copper 'pansy' that they find?" LOL Never melt them down. That would be stupid. Why go to that expense? You know EXACTLY what you have there when they are in coin form. Sell them like that and buy silver coins, or platinum.

It costs more than face value is what you mean....pennies are "worth" more than their face value, even the new 95% zinc ones.

As a graduate of Numismatics, your not hurting the collector community. The collectors are killing it themselves. They low ball you to about 25% of the coins value, then wait you out till you have no choice but to sell. This is why I now work in bullion
@RyanSharpie6 жыл бұрын
Chris Rhodes yeah I get it, I looked at coin collecting and various other types of bullion and bars and there’s no true market really anymore. People are selling bars and rounds and spots way higher than silver price along with any other type of metals. While highly collectible coins are going for dollars and not being sold. I don’t get it

Copper is up now is 3 to 4 cents now. You can sell them on eBay for 2.5 cents each.

anyone ever consider the cost to seperate the metals in a penny they are not 100 percent copper.so you wont get as much as you think you will.look at it like this if you sell 100 pounds of pennies the person has to pay to have it seperated and pay the labor cost for what they are going to do with it.this is why most people get 100 percent bullion.

Q.what about weight in under 3.1g. is that a copper penny?

I'm not sure that they'll get melted down, at least not immediately or quickly. I think they'll be worth more in their money form and sold for 2, 3, 4, or even 5 cents a piece. I think I have at least that many American Copper cents, not counting my Wheat cents, and I have about a half box of Canadian Copper pennies as well. I hope people listen to your advice.

I also figured it's good to look for them now. Less and less people are using cash

I hear people talking about melting them down, once legal, to get multiple times their investment from the copper. Good option to have, but what if the US dollar collapses, and 5,000 copper cents (I do not call them pennies) go to face value against an ounce of gold, face value of $50.00?

When the government stops making pennies the price of copper will crash and you will just have a bunch of pennies worth 1 cent

@RyanSharpie5 жыл бұрын
bdmaki don’t get me wrong your numbers add up and I understand where your coming from but any research to other countries such as India’s cent or Canada’s penny that switched to steel pennies saw no increase or decrease to copper. Copper is used so much in construction materials that a significant crash in copper will disrupt everything.. I don’t see it happening
@bdmaki5 жыл бұрын
We will just have to wait and see what happens...Another aspect is the more copper pennies taken out of circulation is the Government has to replace those pennies, thus pushing the federal deficit higher and higher..In other words we are borrowing money from other countries to replace the pennies that people are taking out of circulation !@@RyanSharpie

@@johng187 to another John G: The way our government works it takes forever to make a change of any kind. An example is the federal minimum wage has not been changed in 11 years. Pennies are not being discontinued at any time, it would bring on inflation anyway.
