This happened to my friend one time. She is NOT a very tidy person and when she heard that "John and Mary" were coming to see her she worked literally for hours cleaning her house. Shortly before they were scheduled to arrive they called her and told her they couldn't make it. She called me and told me about it and said "I just wasted a clean house!"

Omg, this is me every time someone comes over! And while at my core I know that not everyone is clean and you are usually seeing the quick clean, I can’t help myself and the anxiety that comes with having visitors! I’m hoping our quest for minimalism helps this!

I am the queen of what I call a power clean. It’s a gift. But I am a messy person and I’m working through it. This honesty brings me so much joy because you’re right, everyone does a clean clean and it’s good to be reminded. Can’t wait to watch the reat

I have finally gotten to the point that I don’t have to do a ‘quick clean’ anymore 🙌🏻 Yes I will make the kids tidy their toys and make sure my bra isn’t hanging to dry in sight but I’ve minimized so much and regulated my chores so that I can avoid this, all while pregnant and 3 under 7 💁🏻♀️💁🏻♀️

Do you wanna know why I am not a spontaneous person? Friends: "Hey, we have a little bit of time. Do you mind if we come over now?" Actually they could come over. I am at home and have nothing better to do. But instead I answer: "Oh um...I am busy at the moment. But you could come over in 1 hour?". And then I clean as fast as I can while swearing like a sailor and cursing myself "THE NEXT TIME I WILL CLEAN EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE AND NOT WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE!" Suuure. Next time...hah! :P

I did that too! I still had this problem spot (like the closet under your stairs) where there’s a gap between the foot of my bed and my wall. It was half oubliette and half place for CD’s but it wasn’t working. So, I pulled everything out onto my bed, reorganized and ended up with a bag to get rid of and a bag of things to just toss. Now my studio apt, is way more put together as I had tackled two other places while I was at it! Made waking up in the morning pleasant! Do you experience a “Whao” and a “this makes me feel happy” feeling after waking up the next day and seeing what you accomplished?

During this last Christmas, my parents got rid of a small tree that I had purchased for my own room when I was a kid (with birthday and Christmas money) and replaced it with a new tree about the size of the one you just showed. XD It makes cleaning up after the holidays super easy for my mum who has back problems and can't move very well, but it still gives them the Christmas feeling without being a burden for the other 11 months of the year. They still have this huuuge tree that never really fit anywhere, but are planning to dig it out of "Moria" (aka: the basement) and donate it. If there's one tip I have for being a small-space minimalist, it's to find a way to downsize seasonal decorations in a way that still gives you the same joy for much less effort. In my case, I'm a bit of a magic/apothecary fanatic, so I have my Halloween decorations to reflect that and just use the neutral stuff as year-round decoration. The small amount of spooky things hide away in a tote along with my minimal hand-made Christmas stuff.
@MessyMinimalist8 жыл бұрын
Great tip about seasonal decorations! It's funny, because after the holiday I always feel a little stressed about how much the decorations muck up the place! So I do think having fewer that you LOVE goes a long way. :)

That's how I felt during all my growing-up years. My mom was messy and I was naturally neat. She would do all these things for company and I'd get to enjoy it for a few hours but I always wondered (and asked) why we couldn't do it for ourselves. It's all very well for people to say "clean it up yourself," and believe me, I've spent my whole life cleaning up after people, but when you live with a Messy, there's no point. I could leave a kitchen spotless, come back 5 minutes later, and if my mom had been there to fix herself a bowl of cereal, there would be crumbs on the counter, the milk sitting out, the cupboard door left open, water splashed on the faucet I had just polished, and the towel stuffed in a wad over the rack after I left it perfectly folded and hung. You simply can't keep up with messy people and you exhaust yourself trying!
@amyphoto1138 жыл бұрын
LOL! This happens at my house whenever we have company over! There's some nice motivation to finally put away the Christmas Tree, huh? lol! Everytime I do this kind of quick clean, or even a longer clean like for the holidays I knew my family was visiting for a week... luckily not staying with us! But anyway, they could be over any amount of days... My house got really clean in a few days... then what happened afterwards? within days it was like it was never clean... sigh...

She sometimes says to me, "Oh, I need to dust just look at my coffee table. My house is dirty." My husband and I look and then look at each other like, huh? Is she serious? It doesn't need to be dusted. Yeah, she makes me sick...lol... 😂 🙃 I'm not a neat freak, but my house is rarely spotless...

@azhrayharris88 жыл бұрын
styyle310 I've known a lot of artists, and I've worked in a gallery. Everyone I've worked with has agreed that art is ment to be enjoyed, not dictated. So whatever someone chooses to do with their art is up to them, and only them.
@staceybrister7 жыл бұрын
People can hang their art wherever they like. She mentions her husband was just messing with her, and that's cute, and funny. But where there is a wall, you can absolutely hang art that reaches all the way up. Of course, the end result would have stuff hanging that would be underneath the way high stuff. I love you and your home, Rachel
