You know what? I try not to be judgmental but a lot of this isn’t simply hoarding! It’s years worth of neglect! Laziness and down right trifling! It’s too many adults their to solely put all of this on the Mother! The daughter has two kids and the kids father seems to be active! As parents, It was their responsibility to get themselves & those babies out of that filthy environment! Child protective services should’ve been notified! This is unacceptable!

@peggypeggy4137
@peggypeggy4137 4 жыл бұрын
They probably cleaned, sprayed, and used gel, (to stop future generations of cockroaches) and then bought the furniture. We bought our century home years ago. There had been 2 families there previously. They had a slumlord and the house had been filthy (altho' not hoarded). There were cockroaches and mice everywhere. We got some professional cleaning help, resanded the floors and painted. We got in pest control who did 2 exterminations. They also consulted about where mice were getting in. After that we adopted a stray adult cat, that we named "Peggy" ( hence, my internet name). The exterminators took care of the mice and Peggy kept them away. The products they use are very effective. Haven't seen a bug or mouse since!!

We rescued one of our dogs from a horder's house. It must have been bad, and maybe some abuse too. But he seemed like he'd never been on a wood floor before, probably because of either he wasn't let inside, or because the trash covering the floor and not being visible. To this day he stands on the carpet and whines, and we have to guide him over the hardwood while he shakes because he's so scared. He walks like the floor is going to eat him up.

When the environment you've been used to for multiple years is completely altered, shock will hit hard, even if that environment was uncomfortable. Change is hard, especially when it's all cleared out in just one day. And when you have a compulsive hoarding disorder, the shock and grief is immensely more difficult to get through. We clean our rooms and are able to cope easily with the new environment, but it's just not that easy for someone who is a compulsive hoarder. I think that the support from her family and professionals, as well as seeing how the children blossom as a result of the cleaner living space, will all help her get through the grief that she's experiencing.

@@noahpehowic6080 This is perceptive; it's probably true that it's more complicated than it seems. Looks are deceiving but she comes across as emotionally flat' the same after as before. My guess is that she has not uncovered the emotions that lead her to enjoy that hoard. in addition -- I didn't hear anything about the pest control needed before putting in all that new furniture. I can only guess that it was taken care of.

Jeez all the babies are so gorgeous. I could not imagine roaches crawling over them. I’m glad she cleaned the house and all but if I were a neighbor and had seen this, I would have called CPS ages ago. I wouldn’t even let my kid walk through all of that. I’m glad they worked on this as a family and I hope they continue to support the mom.

I am so glad the kids have a better environment now! That was horrific. I do not understand why the daughter, when she had her own place, did not just throw all of her items out and bomb the place numerous times instead of stop paying the rent? Then keep it really clean with bug traps or constant exterminator visits. She could of even contacted legislator on slum landlord, but you don't just paying the rent until you can do better. That just seem like excuses to me. I would have did extended stay in hotels before living there.

He's literally in the entire episode from beginning to end. The kids cant live with him because he lives with his mom and she raises a multitude of foster children. It's no excuse. Mom and Dad are young but they gotta step their game up fast to get those precious babies safe because Flora does not want them there and they really shouldn't be there. The mom did have a house of her own but she lost it and had to move back in.

I understand he lives with his mom but they can literally combine their income in order to move out together and with clean space for their kids. He kind of brushes it off like "oh well". Sometimes people have to do what is necessary for a short period of time and seeing how he isn't even really a caretaker of his kids, he can afford to have 2 jobs temporarily.

@@iluvbears4861 Yeah I agree. They have to come together for the kids and themselves people have their own negative build ups about themselves and it stops them from taking care of business, I’ve learned the hard way personally my ex husband was nonchalant and didn’t do much I used to be that way slightly and that’s probably why we attracted each other. People can’t just lay down and have kids without having some portion of their lives built and stable. This is the result

@@mj7177 they should both be working 2 jobs. Have family care for the kids, or use a daycare. There's no excuse to have your kids in a home with roaches crawling on them. They usually get brought in with something, packaging, food, or whatnot. They are doubly hard to get rid of in warm climates. I grew up in so cal, and we had them for a while when I was growing up. They stink too. What a nightmare. They didn't show it, but I'm sure they called an exterminator to fumigate the house.

Roaches rarely bite but when they do, they feel threatened. The combination of their invasive nature and diseases is what makes humans instinctually repulsed by them. Oddly enough, they have to clean themselves after touching humans so that skin oils don’t block their airways!
