So impressive. you have crossed several hurdles 1.You let hubs help. HUGE. 2. You managed multiple hours in a clump. HUGE! (maybe because hubs was helping?) 3.That was a lot of decisions and letting very quickly. Is there another word for Huge? Enjoy having foot space in the shed. Love your a little bit and little bit and little more and little bit and a little bit and little more.

Oh my goodness what a change! Glad you’re not feeling loss bc girl you have gained! I imagine you’ve gained respect and appreciation from hubby for making a shared space more usable. Too often on Hoarders, the children and spouses have such emotional trauma from feeling unimportant compared to the hoard 😢 You’ve gained un-hoarding muscle! 💪🏼 You’re gaining a better sense of organization and space utilization! And it will all eventually culminate in such inner peace and contentment, for the family to be able to move freely in any area, to not have your brain cluttered with stress, to have the self awareness to recognize and prevent any future hoarding tendencies, and to be a good example for the boys. Win win win! 👏🏼💜

I love that you've reused the storage you already had and that you emptied from previous decluttering. It seems like so often I see people do a declutter video and buy a whole load of organisation stuff when they've already got things that could use or repurpose. It's so great to see the amount you've got rid of and you saying that you don't feel anxious getting rid of it shows how far you've come. It's a great example for the boys as well, seeing you get rid of the things that they don't use any more or don't fit them, they'll learn that this is a positive thing and use that as they grow up.

Huge victory!!! I am loving your channel. I've been tackling my mess for over a year. It's still a work in progress. I did a section of my small shed last week. I couldn't finish because the weather isn't good enough yet to put up the trampoline blocking more stuff. I did put out 4 bags of trash, an old patio set, a deck swing and random broken and good toys. I had a hard time getting rid of the old scooters, pogo stick etc. But once I put it out to the street and the neighbour claimed some things for his yard, I went back and got more. My patio stuff disappeared during the night to be up cycled. Small victories for big gains!

We are so proud of our girl! Thank you for explaining your feelings. When I helped my mom tackle her hoard, I watched her feel a sense of loss as her items were decluttered. It took almost a year for her to look back upon the experience without feeling sad. This process is very difficult. You are modeling how sometimes irrational and potentially unhealthy behaviors can be redirected. The fact that your boys also wanted to curate their items was so powerful. Ask Hubby if any of the longer lumber in the garage can be stored in the rafters in the shed. That might help make room for the bikes in the garage. You have a lovely home and such a nice yard! 🦄💐Hope you had a Happy Birthday!🎉🎂
@johnputt20644 жыл бұрын
I am so proud of you and your family❣️ I can see that you did ask for the family’s input. You’re getting better and better about making categories. I’m glad the boys and you were ok to get rid of some of the balls. I did that with our 3 sons. I thought more of our all’s were “playable”, but they helped me see what they truly value playing with. That helped me let go of more, knowing what we had is “enough” and that I know we don’t need more. I love how you started organizing with what you have! Applause 👏 for your husband!!! He did a great 👍 job too!!! Thought #1 💭: Maybe call the bike zone “The Bike Parking Lot”. If you want, you can take duct tape and put it on the floor to define each “parking space” in the bike Parking Lot. Thought 💭 #2: regarding the lawn mower and the wheel barrel, which do you use most? I would “park” what you use most closest to the door. I love how you are okay to not have every box. It’s nice to see that even though you love the memory of some things that are worn out now, you’re okay to love the memories, but value the space for what serves you well now. Flower 🌺 pots: keep what really brings you and your family joy. If you just put more and more stuff out things start to detract from each other. Maybe now is a good time to define “enough” yard decorations for each season. Congratulations on a job well done 👍, especially as a family ‼️‼️
@2minobssesion4u4 жыл бұрын
i think you should make an area the shed a gardening space, once you get to the garage and get stuff in their more organized you could take the bikes there and move all those pots and stuff you have in the garage for gardening out to the shed. I think that would be a great use of some shed space and make gardening seem more like a special thing that you get to do. this looks so good even if it doesn't have exactly everything you imagined, people places and things are always a work in progress we just do our best to get what we need out of something as we go. so be proud of it now because you put in work and evolved it to where it is now.

Wow! Looks great! I would rethink the rafter storage. Usually that is the same as throwing it away except it is still there as clutter because no one wants to get the ladder and move stuff to put the ladder up and then wrangle stuff off the rafters while trying to balance on a ladder. It is also just a safety hazard for the one on the ladder.

I had to clean my mom's hoarded mess more than once, she couldn't part with anything. Used teabags and empty toothpaste tubes might be good. Every day I get rid of something, at least 5 or 10 things every day. Yesterday I went through a drawer, and found a business card over 50 years old. My husband had misplaced it. Let your kids learn to feel good giving things away. Tina

Yep, I need to see a ‘jumping up and down clapping’ emoticon here!!! You did so good and you let hubby and the kids help! Kudos for all that awesome organization and for all the stuff that’s headed out the door. For a moment there I thought you were going to micro sort the heck out of stuff but you didn’t and that’s good. I think you can overwhelm yourself by too specific of organizing. I wish I would have sent you pics of my garage before you finished up, I organized it quite well, but you did it in your own awesome style! It looks great! Excited for the next video! Can’t wait to see the progress on your basement!

Having watched so many of your videos, I think it's time to go back to all your decluttered spaces and pull all of the sentimental items out and place them in the basement, unless you are using them. The stroller, for instance. Don't keep it in the areas of stuff you actively use--you're causing crowding and friction. Once everything sentimental is in the basement (unless you're are using it), start to divide your sentimental into 5 year increments--age: newborn to 5, 5-10, 10-15, etc. It will help in processing your life and what things brings only good memories of those times. That will help in the declutter. Do that for each one of your family members. But until then, don't keep sentimental in your living spaces unless you're using it (like your care bear pillow case?)
@darstill21954 жыл бұрын
Great job! You got rid of quite a lot. If you go thru some of it again, in say 6 months or so, you might get rid of more. I still can't imagine kids going out there to get toys to play with though. Watch and see if they do over summer. If they don't then you know they don't care that much about them, and you can get rid of them. It will open up more floor when you get your hooks. Some of the dollar stores even carry some hooks. Great job! Good luck on next project!

Wonderful! It was just a giant jumble before, but now you have what you decided to keep and yoi know what you have and where it's at. The larger categories will help you to find what you are looking for in a year or two and to know the total of what you have in that category. This will also help you to not make new or duplicate purchases. For example, my brother keeps buying baseball caps and sock, because he doesn't know how many he actually has as they are scattered and stored in multiple different locations. It is amazing! I am so glad that you didn't feel regret over letting go of that giant pile! You did good for yourself and your family! It's wonderful that you could have them help you as it helps them also! A family that declutters (or does anything, really) together stays together!

Have you thought about doing the garage before the basement? The basement can be done all year round whilst the garage is weather related. Also probably a lot of the items in the garage is your husband ie ‘diy’ tools therefore just needs to be organised. Also seems a lot less daunting than the basement and can be done a lot quicker with hubbies help xxx
@genevievesteier82284 жыл бұрын
Yay!!!! You did it. Looks great, normal shed and amount of stuff, good ideas of bringing bikes to garage and pull out summer toy chest. You can now see that you can keep this progress up in your basement and onto the garage. Over time, maybe set up the nice furniture I noticed some where and move cube furniture to basement and garage to store basic household items. Also after all those areas...you can do another basic clean out and find more things to let go next year or the year after. Meaning you can revisit the shed to give more kids things away when they outgrow those ones in a year or two. And also after getting through all areas in your house you can re konmari again in future years

Worked on garden prep for two hours while Alan mowed and weed whacked , will continue tomorrow. I have written a list of odd chores to finish up tomorrow. Early dinner fixed and cleaned up. I had a couple things I had a hard time getting rid of until I realized I didn’t need the physical item to trigger the memories. Not only is a picture easier to store it’s also easier to look at more often rather than the actual items getting buried under other things never to be seen for years.
