I couldn’t believe Herrshners had them on such a sale. They were around $15 for 2 cakes. Trust me, I paid more for the ones that have the ball band. Look on Etsy for YarnArts I’ve purchased from a couple of the sellers. Watch their sales and take into account shipping costs. I placed a large order and it financially made sense at the time. This is the same type of yarn Hobbii sells for $20+ (on sale) per cake.

Good afternoon Shannon, I am so glad I came across your channel, all thanks to the A&C Christmas stocking. I have been laughing aloud. I need to do this more. Well, my dear, clearly your yarn is talking to you by bouncing off the shelves. It has nothing to do with having "too much", there is no such thing. I think you should make something with the first ball/ skein that hit you. Depending on how big it is will determine what you make! I love the green on the outside and the purple in the middle. I envisage a long cardigan in that, I guess done in one piece on double ended kneedles. I have never bought the graded multicoloured yarns. I've seen kits in Lidl and Aldi for socks with this style, so maybe I 'll give it a whirl. How many years does your yarn collection go back? My oldest ball was hand spun by my grandmother and the wool came from her Jacob sheep around 1980. It will need lanolin before knitting up now as it's become quite dry. I kept it for knitting a toy sheep for my first grandchild. I'm still waiting.... Finally one of my sons is getting married and talking babies!! PAC is a type of acrylic.

I’m so happy you found me. The A&C stocking was a lot of fun. Definitely not too much yarn. I have more then some and less then others. I’ve been able to go into my room and just enjoy the noise dampening quality of it all. I’ll sit and dream of all the possibilities. Yarn front, the Amigurumi L’il devil behind me I made over a decade ago with yarn I’d gotten in Germany in the late 80’s. I do have some Dazzelairre I had to pick up at the thrift store for nostalgia reasons. That could be close to the same age as yours but I wouldn’t count it, it was not originally collected by me in the 80’s. I do have crochet magazines that were mine that are over 49 years old though.

I get the space issues. It hasn’t always been like this. We are a family of 5 too, when the kids were younger the goal was to keep food on the table especially during teen years. Now that the kids are grown and gone the extra grocery money can go to crafts and the kid’s bedroom has a new use. It’s all the stages of life. One ball at a time and your stash will grow. That’s how it started with me in the 80’s

😂I think you need to take photos of all your yarn that’s at the every top of the shelves and make a folder/ album on your phone or computer so that you can more easily see and remember what you have while still keeping the yarn area organized. I know there’s way to track yarn stash on Ravelry and stuff but I’m not sure how time consuming that is, so maybe just a photo album on your phone and computer will be easier and also help keep you inspired when your not sure what project(s) to make!

Hi Shannon, these yarns are also at Hobbii and I got a few of them for shawls at their latest sale. I think they are too thin for blankets but that’s just me. As for your hoarding, maybe purge the ones that will never be used and donate to a senior centre… I have limited my yarn storage space to a seven drawer sock dresser and now I can see all I have easily. I also starting buying for projects only so that helped. But you do you and you seem extremely happy at it!
