REVIEW UPDATE: I should have mentioned handheld visual perfoance is more blurry and generally not as good as docked. If you're predominantly playing there it's good to know that. Hi guys - ALMOST AT 27,000 subs, madness! - I really enjoyed this one but they should ahve had more music, which is a little irritating at times. Panic Button have bought this across to Switch though, so hopefully some good things on offer! Apologies for the pound symbol instead of the dollar one - slipped through the net! not sure if anyone pointed this out yet but Hob got 2 updates so far and it has greatly improved handheld visuals. im still yet to try another playthrough to see if they fixed the framerate on the final stretch of the game as that was one of the game's bigger flaws

The game it's just great on handheld mode! I bought it 2 months ago and I'm playing it sometimes a day. The puzzles are not so easy and I love sticking in games and someday find the solution.. This is the way you have to play a game. I loved it

After selling off Darksiders for a nice profit I treated myself to this gorgeous game a few days ago and haven't been able to put it down. The mechanics were instantly familiar to me being a fan of games like Fe and Rime and I was elated to discover that there were Metroidvania elements in place such as backtracking and acquiring new abilities to reach previously inaccessible paths. The look and sound of this game creates an atmosphere unlike anything I've seen in quite some time and I couldn't be more taken by it's absolutely undeniable charm.

God, this game is perfect for me. Downloading it now and going to enjoy my Sunday with a coffee and some Hob. I can't believe I missed this one. Panic button has nailed it again but some of those nitpicks are pretty annoying. Especially the lack of music. Another quality review, Mark. Yeah perfect relaxing exploration puzzle adventure game. Also, for the fauna, you can wait for them to sit down, and you can approach them and the Y prompt will show up for something cool :) The game does feel blurry in handheld. When i first booted it up it felt like it was below 720p, BUT, it may be 720p but with zero antialiasing coz the outlines look really jagged." Gameplay-wise though, the game is fantastic. It's good that it isnt trying hard to be an action-focused game. Combat is there as additional gameplay element, that isnt all too necessary to finish the game. With no guides, I finished at 15 hours. That said, I got to the third weapon upgrade (missing 2 pieces to complete the final 4th upgrade), and missing a few life blocks. I think i may have the maximum stamina though, but i may be wrong. Had a really good time playing the game throughout. Oh, one other hiccup i want to point out. The final "area" (you'll know what i mean when you get there) the framerate was pretty low. About in the 20fps range, it was pretty bad. But it was only a minute long to get to the next segment where the framerate normalizes again.

Is this a dungeon crawler ARPG? I can't seem to find an answer. How is the leveling system and mechanics compared to Diablo 2 and 3? Does the game give you many oppotrunities in creating your own build? Is it a kind of game that can be played for thousands of hours, like Diablo? How is the end game?

You almost asked for it... 😅)... Nuanced as always. As I see it, this is what makes you reviews stand out and feel very informative and trustworthy. Disclaimer: I'll write this "on the fly", so I might make points I'll reconsider if counter argued by someone, but I think it'll be accurate in relationship to how I feel. First of all... You manage to be dynamic and interesting in your presentation whilst your tone is still very down to earth and not overly dramatic/hyped. You are calm and get your point through without bs or exaggeration. Helps both your likability and credibility imo ;P (I experience that the norm for YT-reviewers is "BREAKING NEWS" if you get my meaning. It's like everything needs to be in the extreme and superlative to be interesting enough, even though it's "just another well/not well made game". You don't do this, I feel. You get the proportions right and that makes you more trustworthy to me and gives your praise more weight when you choose to give it.) Second thing. You excel in dissecting the different aspects of what makes the game and give it appropriate proportion in terms of length in the video and how far you dig into it. You also challenge the impossible task of being objective in these subjective matters. Lastly you summarise the different aspects/elements mentioned well (and I know I commented this on one or three videos of yours before) parallel to making a point of letting us know your personal feelings and gaming experience as far as enjoyability goes. And this sometimes in contrast to the score, but still making sense. This went looong 😂 I hope I managed to be clear in what I meant and that you feel the support! Was unsure about the game, but downloading it now to give it a chance. Lowered my expectations after the review but concluded that it's still worth a shot given your opinions and the price tag. Ok guys interesting review, I've been playing this all weekend (I am a slow gamer) I agree with story needs work & to some degree direction or sign posts so you know what to do next however from a PC game ported to Switch it's brilliant slowdown in Cut scenes small price to pay at least it's not in the gameplay given how limited Switch is. This is one of those games i saw on sale on the shop and snagged with no other knowledge aside from the dev and the trailer. Loved this game through and through. The one game i yearn to pick up and play again if not for my limited time and backlog. I rather enjoyed the sound on this one, just atmospheric and chill. As for the segment about lack of reward. Looking back i get what you mean. Climb a huge tower just to hit a button seems underwhelming, but for me i loved the accomplishment and seeing gears and pieces moving and then a whole section of map unwind and become accessible. I dunno, i enjoyed it. Game story is vague and can seem frustrating at times when you're ambling along. Overall i still loved it and it's one of my most memorable games. Nevermind that one bad frame rate drop scene...

mykillerusername by no means perfect but at less than £12 it’s a great adventure game. I’m enjoying it, the combat is on the basic side which can lead to boss fights becoming tedious but the exploration and puzzles are top notch

I play my Switch in handheld exclusively. Yeah, this games a little jagged, but it's no worse than Wolfenstein. I did however come across a game breaking bug. Thankfully it was super early and restarting only cost about 15 minutes. The lack of direction is annoying, but it's not too bad.

So I'll update this now, but leave my original comment: The latest patch fixed the resolution problems at launch and it looks beautiful in handheld now😍 don't hesitate to buy, it's a wonderful game! Maybe I have to give it another go, but I'm honestly very sadly dissapointed with its visuals in handheld. The resolution and aliasing are terrible in handheld, to the point where I thought the intro animation wasn't in engine and just meant as a retro logo. But to my dismay those were the in engine graphic. The jaggies made the graphics look pixelated, the texture quality and resolution both contributed to making the whole thing look like a blurry pixelated mess. If at least a higher than 30fps justified the graphical qualities the way 1st party games do I could understand, but this port barely meets it's 30fps target. It's sounds like docked might be a better experience, so if this is your only way to enjoy the game, sure why not, but if you have any other platform, you might as well just get it from PSN or steam if you're gonna experience it at home anyway. As for me, the switch's portability is my main draw, so it's heartbreaking to see a poor port on my favorite console.

I find the super tight mechanics and high challenge incredibly engaging and addictive. I am a relative newbie to video games at 24, so needless to say I die A LOT, but I keep coming back for more. It's challenging and that makes it rewarding, plus the game and theme is beautiful.

Totaly agree with your review, great game and i can highly recommend it. One thing which i like, is the fact that enemies dont respawn after you killed them, unlike Zelda or other games, making back-tracking much more easy, if you are searching for a missing health container or other secrets. I did encounter 2-3 bugs, twice i glitched through the ground, but since respawn points are quite often it didnt threw me off to much.

Love your videos. May I make a friendly suggestion? Maybe take your review total down from 20 to 10. I feel like 20 points is a but much and gives too much room for details when your simply reviewing overall concepts like music, story, world. When I watch your reviews it's hard to tell a difference between a 17/20 and an 18/20, whereas a 7/10 compared to a 8/10 would hold more weight. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I've already finished Hob back on PS4 and I have got to say, it's a really good game. Unfortunately there won't be a sequel given the studio behind it has closed down. If the Switch had a trophy/achievement system I could be convinced to pick Hob up again, but alas Nintendo didn't bother with those much like plenty of other features found on pretty much every other gaming platform.

Alot of people move on once they have finished the game, but having trophies gives people reason to go back and usually encourages people to get the 100% completion. From other type of gameplay this game could be more to the table. Is it the IP that the company is not experience with for this type of game? Or being their other original games over to the Switch? Torch 1 and 2.. Yea. We don't see many Great games in a long while? We too dependant on noob Indie games? And yes a few out there are great but! Looking out for the AAA games for the money for sure.
