Take the MRT redline to Yuanshan station, take the free shuttle bus to the Grand Hotel. You cannot get to the hotel by walking, you have to take the free shuttle or a bus from the bus stop outside the station (almost any bus will do) that takes you across the river and bridges. Get off and walk to the Grand Hotel. It sits high on a hill and is reference point. Can’t miss it.

I live in New York and during these long winter months I really miss Taiwan. You guys should do the hot springs at the end of MRT, hike Teapot mountain and do river trekking on the eastern side of Taiwan. Those experiences you will not forget. They are on my bucket list.

We went to Eastern side but we will definitely have to come back to explore more of Taiwan! Thanks for your tips 😊

My parents came from Taiwan so I have been many times. Like you, I think Taiwan is massively underrated. Certainly a first time visitor to Asia should hit Japan, China, and Thailand first but I would put Taiwan on a tier below them. As you said, prices are very cheap, the country is clean, and the people are friendly.

@@warrenandyiching Have to disagree with China. Communist China over actual Chinese cu.ture unperverted by cultural revolution. I think not. So fortunate that we have Taiwan .

Why would you list Taiwan below the other countries you reference, particularly the PRC? Taiwan’s people are friendlier, the food is better, it’s a free democratic state as opposed to a Marxist prison country, the healthcare system is better, the scenery is awesome…and no museaum in China can compare to the National Palace Museum……spend a few months there and you’ll never want to leave……

The Grand Hotel has a great restaurant, the bathrooms are awesome. The park behind the hotel is spectacular. Steep dense jungle with well maintained paths and stone steps leading to a peak overlooking all of Taipei. The chairs in the dining room near the entrance are so heavy, I thought they were glued to the floor.

Tyler got the Taiwanese spirit now:) Introducing and sharing Taiwanese foods to foreign friends 🎉 Taiwanese people are aware of the health problems that sugar can cause so most people likes dessert that not as sweet. Afterall, it’s easy to put more sugar in if you find it not sweet than than to dig it out once it’s in :)

Well done Tyler! You got a great taste from a Taiwanese perspective. The best comment for a dessert here is literally 'it's not too sweet.'! Most people also choose no sugar/light sugar when ordering bubble tea too!

That's probably salted soy milk not soup. FYI not most people's choice but glad you liked it. Hey, douhua is cousin to your soup, all soy products. Nice shot of the cityscape 👍

You should’ve tried the regular, sweetened soy milk instead of the savory kind. The latter is more of a acquired taste, and many locals don’t order as often.

There are many Chinese people who go to Taiwan to see the doctors in hospitals. The Taiwan government welcomes all the Chinese people to come to Taiwan for medicine reasons. The Taiwan government open a big door for the Chinese people. The Chinese people and Taiwanese people share the hospitals together. Even, China often says they will attack Taiwan in the future.

Liberty Square held massive demonstrations in support of the people of Hong Kong during the communist crackdown - maybe 20,000 people. It was packed shoulder-to-shoulder. I know the restaurant you are looking for. It is across the street from the school. YOU FOUND IT! I had breakfast there maybe 100 times over 5 years. Xiao Long Bao with vinegar. It closes after breakfast time. Open only 1/2 day. People come from Japan for its breakfasts, rich and famous Taiwanese. One couple parked a $2 million (USD) Ferrari out front and ate breakfast with us. It is not far from Roosevelt Blvd. The 208 bus stops nearby, a few blocks away.

The memorial place for the dead soldiers sometimes would be visited by people from China looking for their missing family members. Sometimes an old man would cry in front of the dead because he found his long missing father.
