I don't think Martin was annoyed by Richard correcting him, I think he was just embarrassed, that's all.

***** I don't agree with you- it's just real Martin. You need to watch more interviews with him, it's just his manner. He seems to behave like a lout but in fact he's really humble, friendly and loving man.

***** well its kinda polite to not 'correct' someone in that situation. RA was being a little nit-picky to be honest when in reality they are both right. It's all written in the script that Gandalf states the difference in smell but he also alludes the younger adventurous Bilbo son of Belladonna Took, and his disappointment in what Bilbo had become. Later Gandalf says to Galadriel when asked why he picked him, that Bilbo gave him courage. So really Martin was correct, he sees the subtext whereas RA was seeing the blunt facts. Rather than 'Correcting' him as he wasn't actually wrong, RA maybe should have just added that tidbit on the end.

I think. Martin was a bit annoyed, and justly. You shouldn't correct a colleague in public, it's embarassing. And Richard wasn't right, either. He should have said "on the top of that, it was probably the different smell, too".

+OllaAA I agree. Though I wouldn't say he was embarrassed just taking it in whilst being funny still. People read way too much into things. I think that was an interesting correction Richard made and Martin gave that look of disappointment in a friendly manner.
