I always find it fascinating that even though, academically, I know that these are opaque colors laid down on a solid surface once that little specular highlight of white is added my eyes and therefore my mind perceive as a now translucent surface. Its one of those weird yet amazing optical illusions that only happens when everything aligns correctly and that last little touch is added; another one (at least for me) is when a dark line is added under some "battle damage" (read: stippled paint or lines representing scratches) and suddenly, even though I consciously know its still two dimensional, it seems like its now completely realized in all three dimensions and if you ran finger over it you'd expect to be able to actually *feel* the damage.

Smartness is important in a relationship and cyberhackinggenius helped cloned my husband’s phone and I got access to all his dealings both on phone and social media without touching his phone. All I did was share my husband’s phone number with cyberhackinggenius and I was able to read both his new and deleted messages from my phone without having to touch his phone. My husband was a cheating Narcissist and I’m glad to find out all his secrets and infidelity with the help of cyberhackinggenius. I’m here in UK and able to access my husband’s phone messages with a link on my phone even while he was away in Canada cheating on me. I got to discover that my husband who is legally married to me here in UK is also recently married to another woman in Canada and I’m finally going through a divorce with lots of evidence against him. I read all his Whatsapp, Facebook,Skype,Instagram and Snapchat messages Including the deleted text and recent messages. I have to say, my goggles/lenses have gotten a LOT more lazy since gem paints came out - and I discovered the Ghost tints. I pretty much just do dark iron up to silver, let it dry then slap on translucent gem/ghost tint colour. Light does the rest really.

@@VinceVenturella do you have any tips for NMM over an irregular surface? I've hit a wall in my head and can NOT get it to miniature.
@mattcappelli58225 жыл бұрын
I really need the brush control. I paint mostly space marines and I can get one lens done to an acceptable standard but even when I flip the mini over to get the other one, I usually make a slight change in the angle or something so it doesn't look great.

That other eye is always challenging. It's just a practice, practice, practice thing.
@surfacetension44715 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tutorial as always. One thing that just occurred to me as I watched this was that I always paint my space marine lenses symmetrically, which would be as though the light was coming from a different direction in each case. It generally looks ok to me... artistic licence I guess?
@VinceVenturella5 жыл бұрын
Sure, it just represents light coming directly from above. It's a little different as space marine lenses are on the side of their helmets and angled so it's still correct under a zenithal light.

Great video Vince! This works well for outward curved lenses because the light hits at the top and goes through the but that sticks out. How would it work for flat lenses like Admech or Dwarfs tend to use?
@VinceVenturella5 жыл бұрын
IN general, you can use the same techniques. You may want to make the lines a little more straight and pronounced instead of curved reflection lights, but in general, the light will pass through all the same.

@@VinceVenturella ok thanks!!! I had always thought you'd want to see the facial features through the glasses, but it always looked real bad.... I will try just making it a solid color without the facial features "behind" the glasses.

I know it's been a while since you posted this video, but how would you represent eyes behind the goggles? I have a goblin model where the art shows his eyes as little white streaks behind his goggles, would you just use white/ivory over top of the lens? Thanks!
@VinceVenturella6 ай бұрын
This is a very tough effect, in general my advice would be - don't do that. So the very complicated answer is you paint the eyes, then you paint the color and transition transparently over the top so it looks like they are beneath the transluscent glass, you need the reflection shine and light catch and so on.

Question both about bones I am in the midst of painting a flesh eater courts and after that i will start painting The Avatar of Taïpahn On both the Terrorgheist Zombie Dragon have several pieces of bones, i wanted to hear if you had any good ways of painting old and weathered bones? I was thinking that perhaps your "how to shadow bones" video might be of use, but i don´t know. Then there is The Avatar of Taïpahn her snake body and several of her horns have a lot of bone plates on them, how would you go about making it looks if not old then at least weathered? I have seen alot of people go for the lots of thin lines look, when painting Tyranid scale, but i have seen just as many using the same effect as the shadowing bones (lots of washes over a layer of bone color).
@VinceVenturella5 жыл бұрын
So my best advice is use more of a black/brown/yellow color throughout the bone. Bring the colors up and leave much less clean white. whether you use striations or smooth transitions won't matter much, it's more about making the color's more "dirty" throughout.
@Erikjust5 жыл бұрын

Since this method so effectively mimics the shine of the lens, would you recommend coating with gloss varnish or leaving them matte?

In general, you want it to be quite matte. the gloss will only create light points that conflict with the light point you create.
