Hobbyist Varroa Monitoring: How to do a sugar shake Varroa Mite count test

Any info on the jar mesh size? I guess smaller than a bee, but bigger than a mite. How many varroa per 300 bees is ok?

To monitor the current outbreak in NSW the DPI should be distributing free sugar shake kits to all beekeepers through beekeeper supply shops.

id rather just do an OA vaper treatment, with a screened bottom board...... then count the mites on the bottom tray after...... no need to open the hive, no killing or hurting the bees, no need to piss the bees off, no need to use another resource.
