Please click "...more / Show more" for links and more information. Visit www.horizonhob... for more information on the XCub 450mm RTF.
Now it's easier than ever to learn to fly RC (Radio Controlled) airplanes in more places and smaller spaces with the HobbyZone® XCub 450mm! Its ultra-micro size makes it perfect for flying in large yards, parks, soccer fields, and other suitable spaces where larger “trainer” models can’t typically be flown successfully by first-time pilots. Plus, it features a “pop off” prop saver design and incredibly tough EPP construction that makes it one of the most durable trainer airplanes yet! Best of all it also features SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology that helps prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation, and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully. The 100% factory-assembled airframe is equipped with a reliable electric power system, receiver, and servos. It’s also RTF (Ready-To-Fly) right out of the box including two rechargeable batteries, a charger, and a controller/transmitter so there’s nothing else you need to buy or provide to fly!
Welcome to the exciting world of RC (Radio Controlled) flight! If you’ve ever dreamed of taking to the skies, Horizon Hobby has you covered. We are committed to engineering aircraft that you can learn to fly with successfully even if you’ve never flown RC before. Every HobbyZone® aircraft we offer features industry-leading design and technology developed by experts to keep you in control and learning at your own pace so you can turn your dreams of flight into a reality!
The HobbyZone XCub 450mm is a scale replica of the popular XCub by CubCrafters, which is the safest and most extensively tested adventure airplane ever! It’s also an upgraded and modern iteration of the Super Cub and the classic J-3 Cub that came before it - which was one of the most popular trainer aircraft designed before WWII. That’s a big part of why the XCub 450mm makes learning to fly radio controlled (RC) airplanes in more places and smaller spaces easy and fun! Its ultra-micro size makes it an ideal choice for a smaller trainer model that can be flown in large yards, parks, soccer fields, and other suitable spaces where larger models can’t typically be flown successfully by first-time pilots. Best of all, it’s equipped with Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope (SAFE) technology that helps to prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation, and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully! Beginner, Intermediate, and Experienced flight modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are ready to try, at the flip of a switch.
And the fun doesn't stop while or after you learn how to fly! The lightweight yet extremely durable EPP airframe is equipped with a powerful electric motor that delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, and even inverted (upside down) flight in the Experienced mode. Or, if you’re not ready to perform aerobatics on your own, the XCub can automatically perform single or even multiple loops or rolls in the Beginner or Intermediate flight modes with just a quick press of the “Aerobatics” button and by moving the control stick in the desired direction!
This Ready-To-Fly (RTF) model includes everything needed to fly in one box and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot. From the 5-channel 2.4GHz controller/transmitter and the AA batteries for it, to the two 1S 400mAh rechargeable Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries and a convenient charger that can be used with a variety of USB power sources, there's nothing extra you need to buy or provide! There’s even a spare propeller featuring the unique "pop off" prop saver design included in the rare chance you might need it.

When I was starting out I bought a little Cessna about this size. It didn't have a gyro of any kind and man was it a handful to fly. Plus, I think it was only 3ch. I crashed it a few times, but every time it required a new prop and some glue. Until eventually it went to the plane graveyard. Man do I wish this was around back then. It's been 11 years since that little Cessna and I've now flown probably over 150 aircraft and currently have about 60 in my hangar. This little plane will definitely help a lot of people get bit by the same bug that got me into flying. What a great little plane to start out with. Bravo! 👏👏

Hello HobbyZone!! If you are going to go with these 1s birds like everyone else, I'd really love it if you would bring back the T-28 Trojan S, no changes. Edit: except for a brushless motor.

Avoid these planes. Customer service is a joke. I flew mine a few times, had the aileron servo fail mid flight, and am now getting the run around from HH customer service trying to get the plane fixed/replaced under warranty.

Finally some quality competition for the off brand micro airplanes. Is it DSMX compatible? That would make it awesome as a BNF.

@@A.M.-RC the RTF version Vapor does cost much more ($139.99 versus $99.99) and the Radian is the same price as a BNF Basic without transmitter, battery and charger. DSMX components do cost notably more, that's why these 450mm models are not DSMX compatible (to keep the price just under $100).

This model is not compatible with Spektrum transmitters so we will not be offering a BNF Basic version, but the included 5-channel 2.4GHz transmitter works great and fits right back in the box with the airplane for easier storage and transport!

I just hate 1s battery packs!! I wish they made it brushless with a 2s battery. At least you can balance a 2s. 1s just don’t last long. But the plane looks great!!
@theoztreecrasher2647
@theoztreecrasher2647 4 ай бұрын
An interesting line of thought. I'd have said that 2s batteries are just 2 single cells glued together so that if 1 "goes bad" you are stuck with demolishing the battery for its 1 good cell or chucking it. A simple set of series 1s to multi cell balance leads means you can Balance/Discharge your then pseudo 2/3/4 etc-cellers on any 4-button Hobby Charger or cheap Balancer/Discharger. Brushless would be good though!
@HorizonHobbyProducts
@HorizonHobbyProducts 4 ай бұрын
The reason 1S batteries (and higher cell count batteries too!) don't typically last has NOTHING to do with balancing...it's because most people leave them fully charged for too long! You need to discharge 1S batteries to storage voltage (~3.85V per cell) just like 2S and higher cell count batteries. Leaving ANY LiPo battery fully charged for too long is the number one way to damage it!
@smoothrc28
@smoothrc28 4 ай бұрын
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Yes you’re definitely right. I admit I don’t discharge them like I should. I have so many and they get mixed up. I have small discharges with small heat sinks attached. For my 2s-4s. They have xt60 and xt30 plugs. So I just put them on and don’t have to worry or bother with setting up the charger. It would be good if there were 1 cell dischargers. That you could put them on. I would make my own adapters for them.

I've got to get that... So glad video popped up on my screen... Looks like great plane to start with... I have a very old Spectrun 8 DX7 DSM2 Helicopter Controller... I know the kit comes completely ready to fly, but this plane should work with that controller, correct? I used to have flight simulators from RealFlight 6.5, 7? & Phoenix RC 5... Are They're Newer & Better Flight Simulators & What Plane in The Simulator Wouid Best Replicate This for Practicing Aerobatics?

Hope it flys as good or even better than the cub s for indoor
@HorizonHobbyProducts
@HorizonHobbyProducts 4 ай бұрын
Due to its EPS versus EPP airframe, the Sport Cub S ( www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=Sport+Cub+S+with+SAFE&lang=default ) is lighter and has more wing area so it's typically better suited for indoor flying (especially in smaller spaces). But with enough space and pilot skill, the XCub 450mm can be flown indoors too!
