2 things. 1. Seat riser kit 2. Integrate a rudder tensioner into the boat. I’m always chasing my rudder tension with the heat and the cold. Side note. Improve the spine design with denser plastic / stainless inserts into the critical wear area. The polymer isn’t dense enough.

taking water over the bow seems to be a problem that didn't occur with the old outback model. How has hobie addressed this common customer comment? I mind it particularly when water gets inside the hull from the front hatch.
@araldf Жыл бұрын
Your question is very important and it would be interesting to hear from the Hobie team. Where I live, all of our fishing is in the Pacific Ocean, so we basically fish from mid to rough sea conditions. The main reason I'm hesitant to upgrade my 2017 outback is precisely that my friends in 2018 or newer models takes more water over the bow. I am happy with the performance of my 2017 outback (a few months ago I was lucky enough to catch 2 striped marlins around 130lb each). But at the same time, I am concerned that the system on my 2017 outback (such as the rudder, steering handle, etc) is discontinued, so it could become increasingly difficult and expensive to get replacement parts. So I feel like I'm at a crossroads.
@rja62b Жыл бұрын
@@araldf same here. I think it's just inevitable. That's why common safety gear for kayaking is a pump. Some designs might be more prone to taking water but it's not 100%. Maybe a better seal solution?

I bought a passport 12 about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it but part of me wonders if I should have just spent that bit extra and got the outback. I use my roof racks to transport it and that might be a whole lot harder with the extra weight of the outback. That's what I tell myself anyway.
@Walt11193 жыл бұрын
At 70 now, I put my outback on top of my RAM pickup, which is much higher than a car,,, no problem, your only lifting half of it at a time basically,,, it's all in planning and leverage.. Absolutly love my outback, hobie is the best!
@samshepherd263 жыл бұрын
@@Walt1119 I have an Isuzu trooper so it is higher than a regular car. Normally I put a bit of carpet on the back of the car above the rear window and get the nose of the kayak up onto it and then pick the kayak up at the rear and slide it up onto the roof racks. Simple as. I might upgrade to an outback at some stage but I'll get a bit more use out of the passport for now.
@XxProGamersxX1002 жыл бұрын
@@Walt1119 do you use ladder racks on your ram? I’ve got an f-150 with ladder racks that I can’t remove, and was worried the outback would put too much stress on something like a rack. Do you just put it in your bed with tailgate open?

I'd love to buy one, IF they weren't stupidly expensive. It's really a gouge by hobie. Especially here in Australia. Outback 2021 in the USA $3148 ($4200 AUD) here in Australia it costs $3965 US ($5300 AUD) HOW does it end up $1100 more expensive?

Dear Hobie, Why in the whole entire world are you guys not building a 10’ Outback, and a 10’ Pro Angler? You seem to be uninterested, and leaving this=s market to Native Watercraft, and Old Town. So many of us transport the yaks in the pickup truck bed, and do not use trailers. We fish small bodies of water where there is no room for the giant 12’ and 14’ boats. There are needlessly large and inappropriate for most pond fishing. We NEED THE 10’ BOATS YESTERDAY. But why not? These would easily outsell your huge models that are overkill, unless you fish lakes with ramps.
