Hobie Mirage Tandem Island Motor "Nauti Dog" Twin Honda GX35 Setup 09.16.17

We did a lake test of Nauti Dog using two Honda GX35 Small Outboards with a full load and towing gear in a kayak. We are very pleased with the light weight and propulsion these small units provide. Thank you Kayakbuddys.com.

Wonderful. In the first part I looked at the expressions on the dogs and tried to read what they were thinking about being on the boat, but on the second part you could see their attitude was very different - a bit like kids continuoulsy thinking "Are we there yet?", That is the first twin motor setup I have seen on a TI (I have an eVolve). Hello, Mcoop571... It is a 12 gauge piece of stainless steel that I bent to 90 degrees, then I cut out the areas I did not need, such as the rear cargo area. I will try to post you some pictures shortly. Take care,

Hello, LMJohnson. We started with just one motor for a year, it was plenty for us to get around with two people and three dogs and gear. We stored it inside the hull, whenever we had no wind to sail. They are very handy units, and will run almost an hour on a tank. Take care, from Texas.

Hello Marcus. Thank you! We still use the sail and drives quite a bit... unless there is no wind or we are towing a kayak full of gear. The fuel tanks give us about an hour of run time, so we usually carry spare fuel. If we go out with a light load we still enjoy sailing... take care and thanks for commenting!

what is the weight capacity on a platform like this? I'm 6'2 240lbs and would like to know if something like this one support me while fishing

Hello, Steven. The Hakas are made out of aluminum bleacher seating, they can carry a lot of weight... My wife and I both stand and sit on one with no issues.. The Amas will go under water with weight, before the Hakas have issues. Bleacher seating websites state +100# per square foot. I would not worry about weight capacity if you go this route. They have served us 5 years with no issues. I believe my plans are still on the Hobie Forum... "aluminum hakas". Please ask if you have any further questions and take care!

@@strongme80 Hello, Michael. We are guessing the speed with no crew and cargo is about 10 mph, maybe 8 with crew and cargo. We usually leave the outboards in the hull for backup... but it is nice to have the option. Take care, from Texas.

Hello Hing-sang Hum, the floating platforms are called Amas. The vessel is a 2014 Hobie Tandem Island and the Amas and Ama Arms comes with the Kayak. As for the rectangular platform... I made the 7'-6"x 30" Aluminum Hakas. I hope the information below answers your question. Take care. Stainless Hardware: SS 10 x 24-3/4” Washers, Lock Rings, Nuts, Pan Screws. SS 10 x 24-1” Washers, Lock Rings, Nuts, Pan Screws SS 5/16 x 5” Bolts with Washers, Nuts, and Wing Nuts Kayak Handles - Austin Canoe & Kayak Pad Eyes - Austin Canoe & Kayak Cleats - Austin Canoe & Kayak Weight of each Haka is 45#. 1. Hello, Andy. We were averaging 8-10 miles per hour, depending on the load with two motors. With a compliment of 2 persons, 3 dogs, and a day or two of gear i was getting 6 mph. Take care, from Texas.
