Best bang for buck entry level fishing kayak hands down. That GT Kick Up drive is the AK47 of all kayak pedal drives.

Do you think i can fit an extra seat in the Passport 12 for my teenager son weighing 65kg ? Both of us weighs a combine 140kg.Ive got a side kick arm installed
@HobieOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind the overall weight capacity of the Passport 12 is 400 LBS / 181.44 KG, so as long as you're within the spec, and weight is evenly distributed over the kayak, you shouldn't have issues.

Nice design except the rudder cannot be retracted from the cockpit. Not good if you are in shallow water a lot and get into situations where you need to paddle backwards. Should have flip-up rudder similar to that used on the Lynx.
@BeaufortSCFishing3 жыл бұрын
I think it automatically retracts with a certain amount of pressure
@Plainview2003 жыл бұрын
@@BeaufortSCFishing Yes, it retracts when going forward, but if you have to paddle backward it does not, to my knowledge, retract - so you have to take extra care when maneuvering in shallow water. Not a problem for most people, perhaps, but where I am shallow water and stumps are present, depending on your target species.
@scottlovig13693 жыл бұрын
It’s not hard. If sailing children in Optimists can learn to handle shallow water rudders then so can we.
@Plainview2003 жыл бұрын
@@scottlovig1369 I believe those children on the little sail boats are right next to the rudder, not having to reach some distance, possibly over fishing equipment, to reach it. Nor are they as likely as someone fishing, or exploring backwaters, to go into areas with obstructions. My whole point is that Hobie (or their subcontractor?) was trying to make a relatively inexpensive design, but I think they went a bit too far in trying to make the rudder look like a Revo rudder. Admittedly I have not seen complaints about that the design, but it would cause me problems where I fish.
@jeffreyau12863 жыл бұрын
@@BeaufortSCFishing The thing is after it retract itself in the shallow water when it feels pressure. Wat u gonna do after when u want to put it down and leave? Get down to the water and go all the way to the back to do it lol.

Which Hobbie kayaks can be used with a sail?
@HobieOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Good Question! All of our current roto-molded and thermoformed kayaks work with our sail kit. All Passports have been able to use the sail! Most older Hobie kayak models can also use a sail, so exceptions are model year #1 for the Compass did not feature a sail mast base (this hull should be five or six years old now). Our current inflatable line does not work with our sail kit. Our older inflatable kayaks did have a special sail kit option that featured more standard rigging lines but those models are discontinued.

Why does there seem to be a seam going around the kayak it’s not mold it all in one not sure that’s a good design
@HobieOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Lynx and Passport hulls are thermoformed, which means two sheets of material get joined together in the molding process. The result is an extremely robust parting line, which allows us to also get the attractive two-tone hull colors.
@janezkovac66923 жыл бұрын
@@HobieOfficial lynx sure is not robust...

So which of the Hobie pedal kayaks is the cheapest?
@HobieOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Our most budget friendly pedal kayaks are the Mirage Passport Series. We offer a 10.5 foot model and a 12.0 foot model. The main thing that sets the Passport 12.0 apart from the 10.5, besides the length, is the built-in transducer mount and some extra storage features. Check out Hobie.com for more info!
