Such a wonderful haul! Agree with the box haha I got a small box this year so it is easy to keep. Definitely weeks not laying flat is a no no that’s why I', really glad that the olive green one does and that almond cover! Still thinking about it if I will get it as well (I wonder if the midori A5 notebook fits well for that cover as well 🤔) but really love the color ~ you know our love for browns lol.

You bought enough from the Hobonichi store that your order would have been a lot less expensive - even if you hadn't spent enough to get the free shipping - than purchasing from a US retailer. Basically, if you're ever going to purchase more than one planner book, you'll save money ordering directly from Hobonichi, at least as long as the exchange rate continues to favor the US dollar over the yen.

P.S. The bag that had "2023" printed on it was a store freebie last year. I don't think it was available for purchase on its own. The gift bag you ordered is larger and made from a nicer fabric.

Hello! Thank you for you comment! I wanted to provide extra clarity on this topic since I often get asked about where I order my Hobonichi. Keeping USDJPY constant and keeping sales tax (since they also vary) and discount codes (since I know a lot of shops offer this) aside. As an example, if I ordered the "Cats and Me:" English Hobonichi HON A5 and a "Cats and Me" English Weeks. Different retailers differ in price of the product: If you don't order directly from the Hobonichi US shopping website and you decide to order from US retailers, from what I see if you order from Yoseka Stationery they are priced at: $77 for the A5 and $31 so total of $108, but if I ordered from Amazon US Hobonichi Store they are priced at $80 and $33 respectively (total is $113). If I ordered from the hobonichi US shopping website I would pay $49 and $19, but according to a lot of people shipping this year to the US was $45, so total is $113. So technically you would be saving going to Yoseka stationery (sales tax not taken into consideration). I think it's really important for people to review their purchases and calculate what works best for them.

Yup the 2023 bag was a store exclusive when you purchased an eligible techo book along with the pen so it looks that this year the bag version for 2024 are the minis! so cute!

@@rockypaperscissorsco I think the base shipping (which would cover shipping for the two planners in your hypothetical order) from Japan to the US through the 1101 site was $31 - but I'm not 100% sure. I'm not ordering from 1101 this year because I'm only purchasing a single A6 book (the new Original English edition, so I have to wait until November, darn it!). It's absolutely true that there's a point where the cost flips from being cheaper through a US retailer vs. the 1101 site, and it's a little bit different every year. This is my 6th year ordering from 1101, and every year I make a spreadsheet to compare my total cost from 1101 vs. what US retailers are charging. So far, this is the only year that the total worked out to be less from a US retailer than from 1101. Last year my order would have been $70 more expensive ordering from a US retailer (I ordered an A6 Planner, which is more expensive than the Original, with a Violet leather cover and a few accessories). If I were to order $108 worth of items from Yoseka (your hypothetical order), my total would have been $115.56 with sales tax (7% in Pittsburgh where I live). I always include that in my calculations. The other variable that I'm not sure about this year is the Japan VAT, which they always subtracted in previous years. With this year's site showing prices in one's home currency, the prices in US dollars may already reflect the subtraction of the Japan VAT.

Beautiful haul, I love all the items! I am wondering what the elastic on the Have a nice Day covers feels like? Does it have a cotton type feeling or does it feel more like a normal elastic, if that makes sense?

I’m going to try if it fits soon, I’m waiting because I ordered my usual Midori clear cover since I always like to use a clear cover to protect the fabric cover before I pop it into the notebook cover but I will let you know!
