I can't get over how quiet EcoFlow was about this release. I get it, though. They recently dropped a new "flagship" product, so they probably didn't think this would be a major blip on the radar. Oh, how wrong they were! I hate inflammatory adjectives (however, I used one), but this is nothing short of revolutionary! 👍 Thanks, RV owner here, just the review I was looking for. Assuming you can reverse charge while the Ecoflow is being charged by solar, using this product, a person could set up a large battery bank without having to purchase and wire up a MPPT charger for them by simply running your solar panels to the Ecoflow's charging port/ports and charge both it's battery and the external bank. Install a switch to change over to alternator charging when on the move. Both solar and alternator will charge at same time. Gettin' me one of these!

I'm totally installing this thing in my next vehicle. I love that you only have to plug into the battery port on the eco flow, it integrates so well with the vehicle power but it's also easy to just remove the power station for security or convenience. Its a way to charge the eco flow and a way to feed your vehicle power from the eco flow too!

I have an eco flow river max and we just got a 12-24 volt inline converter. I wired from my 12v switch panel to the converter then out to the ecoflow river max. It has worked great and is sort of a small scale version of this setup.

Automotive grade alternators can have very high amp rating but may not be meant to be run at a hundred percent capacity continuously. I have seen the brushes in new alternators wear out in weeks under high load. Use with caution and understand ratings of your system.

I have been charging my delta max using a 700w inverter which pulls 73A plus 8A from the car charger at the same time my alternator is a 180A model I have been charging like this stationary idling the engine for about 2 hours at a time for over 2 years I believe 70a is a sweet spot for almost any vehicle to handle without issues

@@highwaymen1237 Anyone adding components to their electrical system should be doing a 30 second google search on their vehicle’s specifications what I’m trying to get at is that I believe they choose 800w at 76A to make it the most idiot proof possible what you say is true there will be a few people who don’t understand this stuff, so long as the vehicle is moving a alternator won’t mind running near full duty cycle they are made for it that is the whole point of the ratings they are fan cooled and run at a faster speed than the engine due to the pully ratio on the aux belt Would be interesting to see if they have anything in the manual about setting up a lower charge speed if you don’t have the output available in your car I took a read of the manual online and it doesn’t mention it in there

Keep in mind idling your vehicle for hours in the heat will cause many problems and break downs, just something to keep in mind if someone intends on doing that cuz your vehicle wont last very long like that lol. Short term or smaller sessions shouldnt really be a problem especially if the vehicle is in motion.

I just picked up what I think is a great deal on Ecoflow’s web site. Many deals, but I chose the Alternator charger/combo with a Delta 2, plus they throw in a 110watt portable solar panel for under 1000. I also used a $25 coupon offered at checkout. Anyway…I was really impressed with this review…it just goes to show that although solar and wind are a great source, there will always be a need for internal combustion, and this new product as simple as it is, really fills a need for when the SHTF. Thinking the best way would be to have a 120a Anderson on my car battery (luckily under drivers seat) and RV battery and then an Anderson on the Alt Charger. Would make switching between the two easier.

I was prepared to be unimpressed with this product, but it's really much more than your normal DC-DC charger. It's a genuinely "smart" buck/boost converter, giving you a lot more options and versatility. I'm not a fan of proprietary tech but for anyone already invested in the EF ecosystem, it makes a lot of sense.

I love your videos. I wish this could handle non-Ecoflow setups. When I built my power backup for my house, I stuck to a 12 volt system so it could be recharged from my alternator. I just didn't see any 12v-->48v chargers I would trust. If you have a way to use this with other LiFePO4 batteries, I would be interested in how it's done. One of the concerns I have is with drawing 800 watts/ ~60 amps from an alternator for an extended period. I have one car with a 140 amp alternator that would be fine, but my little Honda's alternator is only 70 amps and, from what I've seen online, would probably fry fairly quickly at idle if I pulled 60 continuous amps. I know you can adjust the charge rate in the Delta, but it would have been nice to include a little info about where to set it in comparison to the alternator output. 40% - 50%?

At what point does large power stations stop making sense? 100 amp hour LiFePO4 is less than $250. Use it as a house battery and top off your smaller power station as needed. You can set it up with whatever charge controller you need. I'm using a 175 solar panel to charge mine and it in turn keeps EB3A topped off as well as running 12 volt accessories directly from it. No reason I could not charge it from the alternator as well, but have not needed to at this point.

Once I started getting into power stations, nowhere has enough sockets! I found a cheap 300w/300wh lightweight one with li-ion and a pure sine, which is now basically an accessory for the vacuum cleaner. Why plug and unplug it constantly? The power comes with me!

Great video Professor. I have purchased the Ecoflow alternator and plan to hook it up to my truck battery. I also want to be able to hook up to a house battery in a truck camper. I noticed you put clamps on cables to do this in the extended video. Did you cut an existing cable from Ecoflow to do this or did you make your own with a separate pin. Basically, I need two cables to switch applications since my truck battery cable will be permanently installed while the house camper battery will not. I have not seen where I can buy another cable from Ecoflow, albeit a shorter one. Thanks, if you can get me any information on my dilemma.

I just bought a sprinter to travel in , set up to use for hunting but also to go to cycling events for me and running events for my wife . My biggest concern was setting up a system that would allow for climate control to leave the hunting dogs in the van when we needed to be away from van . Or for less than $200 you can pickup a generic 48V 20A DC DC converter that will charge any power station with an input that can handle over 48V at up to 960watts. but you do lose the automatic switching features so unless you wire your own, it'll keep draining your vehicle while not running as long as it's connected... and it won't be able to recharge it.

They need to make you be able to run the wave2 directly from the charger, it use the same port anyway. The problem with the add on battery is that it can not be used while you’re charging it, it only has one xt150 port, same as the delta 2

If this will work with an EV, it suddenly allows a LOT more devices to be powered during an outage. ~800 watts continuous transfer from a giant EV battery would power multiple refrigerators, computers, microwave, induction, even periodic space heater use. With say a 70kWh EV battery, you're talking 3+ days of electric power. Solar not required (but wouldn't hurt)

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a Tesla M3 and BMW IX. That’s over 170KWH of battery storage that might become accessible with this device. The big question is you can connect this to the 12V batteries in the EVs, without throwing an error? The 12V batteries are charged from the main high voltage batteries.

Please mind that the NMC batteries are not that bad as the 800 cycles imply, in fact, they degrade earlier but not faster. Sadly, i cannot find the paper anymore - there ws. study about this. However, 800 cycles would be a full 100% to 0% discharge every work day for 4 years, approximately. So even in a heavy use scenario this would realistically mean 6 years until 85% of capacity or so. It is just not that much of a downside, that's what in wanted to share.

@hobotech Hi Tom, did ecoflow asked you not to test this product in a usual way you test that stuff? I missing part to see how this charger co-exist with other Delta 2 Max charging options - what would happen if you connect Alt and a Solar? Alt and a AC charging? If you connect Delta to AC source and activate reverse charging? Does it have priority and/or limitation for simultaneous charging? For some reason all reviews talk only about Alt charging directly from car battery...

Bottom line you’re simply taking power from one battery to charge another one It can’t increase power and to convert to 48v will use more power You still need to run your car or it won’t charge much and cost a lot I have a renogy 40amp dc to dc charger or 700w and like this one as long as your vehicle is running you can charge Solar charges faster but it’s a nice backup

Thank You Mr. Hobotech. For $1597 + tax I got another Delta Max 2, charger and 160 watt solar panel. Last year I just bought the Delta Max 2 for $1500 and though it was a great deal with your help. This is very handy with power outages and for camping. If you spread the payments over a year with affirm its affordable.

Ecoflow becoming proprietary like Apple? I don't own any Ecoflow. I own a Bluetti AC180T, Segway cube 1000, and Jackery 1500. Pecron just came out with the 12/24 500 watt alternator charger for 149.00. I just received mine yesterday. It works on all 3 of my power stations. I'm seeing around 450 to 480 watts.😊 The charging voltage is around 42 vdc. Update I jumped on the deal for 999. You get Delta 2, charger, and 110w solar panel. Minus 59 dollars with Hobo tech discount code of 6% I'll use a Pecron charger for the other power stations. Ecoflow Delta 2 will become my truck power station.

HHmmmm, Thanks Tom. This got Me a Thinking. My 1 ton 7.3 Diesel can have a second Alt. And I have the PTO controller with the charge protection option. I could configure the 2nd alt for 24 Volt. Push the Charge Protect. ((For 12 Volt side )) That runs the Engine idle Higher so the Alt can provide it's full output. or just use the PTO control to set any RPM I want ... People need to realize not all alternators produce Much output at Idle.. My 94 Goldwing for example, the Alt does not put out anything at idle and if left idling it will drain the Battery. I put in an aftermarket Alt the will provide 45 amps at Idle and upto 90 Amps at higher Road RPM's People used to load their bikes with Gobs of Lights and Have power issues AHAHAHAH My 100 Watt Ham Rig was the biggest draw on the Bike... Ps I currently use a Kipor 2600w 240v pure sine-wave petrol generator to quick charge b4 sunset so I don’t annoy any other campers Also we only have 240v ac single phase or up to three phase @ 315v for bigger applications eg larger AC

I have a setup similar I used on my 4Runner. Firstly I upgraded the alternator to a Mechman 250A alternator. Then from my battery I wired in a 12v-58v step up converter in-cab that then feeds directly to my Bluetti AC200MAX PV input. It charges at about 860w.

@@jeffdhartman SKU: A1T2C58C20 from a company called Daygreen. I have it wired into a switch on my dash so I can turn it on and off when desired and the converter itself doesn't actually work unless it's sensing 13.3v so it won't run with the vehicle off.

I have the Daygreen 12 to 58V 1000W DC to DC charger in my rig for topping off my Pecron E1500 and E600LFP units. Was about $220. Factory alt on my truck is 250A. Ran 1/0 tinned copper to the back of the truck bed.

Being nothing more than a DC to DC converter It might be good to use to charge the Jackery 2000 from 12 volts a bit faster if they would supply an adaptor to plug it into the solar input to charge at a much faster rate.

I am building out a trailer to take on a hunting trip. We are going to use an ECOflow and the alternator charger. Are we able to hook the alternator charger to the battery in the trailer and then run a charging wire from the truck to the trailer using the 7 pin plug? Start the truck and the charging cable would go from truck to trailer RV and charge the power station back up at 800watts?

Would a 2000w power inverter hooked to a running vehicle accomplish the same thing? The Delta 2 can do a max input of 1200w ac for charging resulting in full charge in 80min. And it wouldn't be proprietary. I am not an expert on solar so please go easy on me but wouldn't that also work for a lot less money?

Can I use this to charge up and draw from any third party battery such as the SOK 206Ah lithium battery? Would custom cables need to be made for connecting from lugs to the 48v port?
