Hi Alex. First of all i got to say you are an exceptional keeper. There are however a couple of minor things you need to work on the main of which is being more on the ball of your feet when moving around the goal this should make it easier to explode into kicks/lunges and dives as well as help maintaining balance as I've notice your weight sometimes goes backwards after a lunge which makes it harder for you to recover from into your set position ready for a 2nd shot. With your hands i would say your hands need to be closer to your chest (perhaps just outside of your chest) this will allow you to push out at the ball with your glove meaning it puts more power onto the ball and is more likely to go wider. As well as this you need to adjust the angle of your hands so they are around perpendicular to the ground - although this may feel uncomfortable at first it will help you with exploding to the ball/ with bringing your left hand across your body at a better angle -giving you more control. Hopefully this helps you but keep up the great work because you are an amazing keeper

It's amazing to see how we have such different playing styles in the goal, I have noticed how there were saves that you managed to make that I would not have been able to, and the other way round too.

Hi Alex I know I keep commenting but I just want to let you know how much you inspire me!! Your videos make me want to practice so hard so that I can score goals even on amazing keepers like you!! They've given me the strength to practice even when I didn't want too. I'm very proud to say that as a 7th grader in our recent game at my future high school we were unable to win this time but it gave me something even better then any win could!! The varsity, jv, and freshman coach wouldn't stop talking about me!! I couldn't tell you how many times I got told "your a natural", "I love watching you play", "you better stick with this sport because you will become one of the greats if you do", and "we can't wait for you to be on our team"!!! They even talked to my mom after the game!! They didn't just know my number but my name as well!! My coach was talking to a senior that was going to coach there and even though I knew he was trying to hide the fact that he was talking about me, I knew he was mostly because the girl said that I should do something like track or lacrosse during the off season to keep in shape and he said she does it all she plays sports back to back!! (I go from field hockey to swimming to lacrosse to track then repeat) and she said I had a chance of making it!! I'm 70% sure I'll get to play up next year as an 8th grader next year and I can't wait!! I'll keep your videos in mind!!:)

You really are an inspiration. I wish our goalie had that kind of dedication and confidence. You work so hard and are constantly improving. Our new goalie is brand new to this position with her taking over as head goalie because our main goalie is going off to high school. She gets down on herself and lacks greatly in foot work skills. I just wish that she had your confidence to accept mistakes and advice and most importantly learn from them. You are amazing.

Hi Alex, it seems we may have the same issue that we both play like a football goalkeeper and keep our hands down to our sides and not out in front and up, must be be that we got old habits to work on lol , but you are a very amazing keeper

You may want to consider being slightly on your toes to give yourself a slighter edge in reaction speed. If it doesnt suit, don't, but doing this really helped me, so it might for you :)

Can you please give and answer on my question? Ik know there are a lot 😀

an improvement you could make would be to hold your hands slightly higher as it makes it easier to get to the top corner balls and helps keep your balance in the right place. other then that great work, love the vids.

Hi Alex I'm a keeper myself who also wears obo robo gear and I was wondering if you ever have problems with your kickers or legguards splitting mainly where the straps are If you have what have you done to either stop this or repair it Love the videos keep up the hard work would like to see more of this and maybe some drills explained to help keepers like me who don't have specific goalkeeper coaches at our club Thanks
@AlexWitty7 жыл бұрын
Hey Ethan, I haven't noticed any splitting on the kickers or leg guards so far and I've had them for over a year. Only thing I notice now is a bit of wear on the toe area of the kickers from playing on sand base etc. Usually the best way to stop splitting is tape, unfortunately I don't have a secret trick to prevent it! 😂
@ethanbrown41937 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, thanks for the advice I also have noticed the wear on the toe area from playing on sand base as well hopefully this season won't be as bad as will be paying more water based pitches, we've just been promoted from div 2 to div 1 any general tips or certain drills you know that might help and maybe benefit just natural progress without focussing on certain areas And also how did you get involved with fortitude hockey? Thanks
@AlexWitty7 жыл бұрын
One thing that I found helped a lot was doing "keepy Uppies" with a hockey ball in my kit. It really benefits your kicking ability, you just learn to eventually control the ball and this has probably benefitted my game a fair bit! :D

I first met Tom from Fortitude through my Auntie. They used to work together and she mentioned that he was a goalkeeper that coached aswell.

How's it going mate, you've improved a lot since I did my A-Level PE speech on your performance a while back :D Just wondering tho, what mount do you use to connect to the net at the back of the goal? All mine just seem to drop down.
