Matthew didn’t get a third act. Best answer - yes and no to question of were you surprised? I have 25 years of sobriety and I often ask why me? Why did I have to be the one in my family who was chemically dependent when I went for treatment but now I ask why I breezed through . I’m very aware that each day is a gift and I’ll kick this disease when I pass sober.
