You are *exactly* the sort of dork that I'd hoped you were. I love your books and the worlds you create. I want to live there. I want to make the world we live in more like the ones you write. Keep being you. You're exactly the sort of person this world needs and, I hope, exactly the sort of person you need too

just decided to start listening to audiobooks and wasn't sure where to start. I love thinking about space and the future of humanity in space, especially alongside species from other worlds that we can interact with. So I searched for quirky, fun stories about space travel and came across your names and books. Just read book one 'The Long Way...' and loved it, I listened to the audiobook, while swimming, cleaning, working out, etc and it's made all those things more enjoyable. Moving to the next book today :) You're an amazing writer, intelligent with an amazing imagination and I see you have many other books out there... planning to check them all out. Thank you many times over Becky! Hope to meet you one day : )

I have always loved space exploration. The real deal and also in fantasy. I love a good space yarn with fascinating characters. Sadly, I haven't really been grabbed by a sci-fi fantasy story in a long time. Until now! Oh, man. What can I say? I LOVE THIS BOOK! This has all the elements I appreciate in a good, engaging story. It makes me smile! I truly can't wait for book 2 (well, I can. I have to.). Becky Chambers, thank you so much for constructing this amazing, thoroughly engaging, fun, well written work. You have made me and many, many others so very happy!

Reader from Germany here. Loved your book. Great characters, and even though it makes no difference it’s my first space opera from a female author. (Checked them all). Great stuff thx for existing.

I am 20% into the book but I already love it. So I am not surprised that the author is such a relatable person.

I loved the book so much that I ordered the sequel on the first day. I'm halfway through and liking it so far. Although I miss having more main characters. My favorite part is learning about the different species in as much detail as possible. I've never really read anything like that and it tickles my interest for anthropology and sociology. So if you write another one: More of that please!!!

Texas Reader, Y'all come to Texas, and see it for yourself. I read "The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet" several years ago, around 2013, in a time I was basically broke. I remember that I liked the book, so about 2 weeks ago now that money is not so tight. I saw it in Kindle, and bought it again, and started reading the book expecting to remember some of the story line, and events being told, but by time I finished the 1st chapter, I knew I had no idea I had read this book before. Well now that I have read all 4 books, I can tell you that I really liked the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th books. The ideas reminded me of the few good parts of my University classes of Philosophy, and not the boring, or stupid parts. Yep, if you are looking to decide if you would like to read Becky Chambers books, I would strongly recommend you read all of them.

I couldn't choose a favourite book for 15 years then I read this one. The Long Way is my undisputed favourite book of all time, and the only one that could rival it is the sequel.

Star voyagers Spread the word, gather the crew Check the engines and fuel too We're leaving in five minutes, not less We're leaving this planet, escaping this mess Where to, captain?, the crewman asks me Where the mission will send us, how hard can it be? We're travelling far, cruising the space With joy in our heart, smile on the face But what do you do? , one might ask What is your mission? , what is your task? Explaining this clearly won't be that easy Not now Jenks, please, in fact I'm quite busy The universe is undoubtedly a really big place We're making it smaller, we're leaving no trace So when you have a long journey to do We'll make you a shortcut, we're drilling there through The job is still dangerous, not going to lie Some people don't like us, the risk is quite high We lost a friend recently though she didn't get killed She can't be with us, the void can't be filled We don't give up, we're still going strong We're up for the mission, no matter how long You need a passage, a safe way back We got you covered, we'll set you on track Long story short, our job is a big deal What is it, Jenks, are you for real? Yes, it's me captain, please don't be so cruel I'm here to inform you, we're quite out of fuel
