It isn’t often that you meet someone for the first time and feel like you’ve known them for years. In the case of first meeting Fred Savage, it was as if I’d spent my entire childhood with him. And that’s because, well, I had. His role as Kevin Arnold on The Wonder Years made him an entire generation’s TV best friend, and here I was in his living room. Fred is the person 12-year-old you imagined he would be. He’s warm, kind, and gracious. He’s funny and up-beat. He’s humble about his iconic past - including about the fact that he was the youngest person in history to be nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Emmy as a lead actor. He was 13. He’s a father now, and spends his days directing and producing. In fact, he’s been behind some TV shows that might surprise you - he directed 19 episodes of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, for example. But in his free time, Fred is a watch nut, just like the rest of us. And his collection is varied and charming, a perfect representation of who he is. And today, I am thrilled to present to you the official Talking Watches with Fred Savage.

I really appreciate how Fred treats his 5-year-old's collection with respect. They're all little fun novelty watches that probably cost like 10 bucks each but he treats it totally serious with no pretension. He says "he has a great avengers watch" in the same tone of voice and with the same sincerity as he describes his vintage Rolex. I really admire him for being so sincere and being so respectful of his son's interests and tastes, seems like a really good dad.

I have watched every talking watches since it started and this episode is in the top 3 by an absolute mile. Here are my reasons. 1. He is a humble and nice guy 2. He has wealth but is a "real" watch man as he buys what he likes and loves regardless of price 3. He's not bought anything to show off or show off his wealth like most people on Talking Watches 4. I'm sure he could buy very pricey watches he but he's not been obvious buying PN's etc...... 5. He's got his kids into it and that's so cool. 6. He has great reasons and stories for buying a watch. Not just "I signed a new contract and went out and bought a 100 grand Patek etc.....

This was the best episode of Talking Watches that I've seen in a long time. I found Fred Savage humble, genuine, and likable because he was so self-effacing about his status as a watch collector. His collection reflected a true love of vintage watches. I've already re-watched this episode 3 times because I found it so enjoyable. When not watching, I've been looking up information about the Helbros alarm and Gallet chronograph. And his kids' watch collections? Priceless.

Gents, this episode is absolutely beautiful. Made me choked up to hear how humble Fred is and how enthusiastic he is. I’m gutted I didn’t get into watches sooner but at 48 I am totally hooked. My first ever luxury purchase was a speedmaster and Seamaster 300. Both of which I had stamped on my sons birthdate ready for when I hand them to him. I also added a Breitling Navi to the collection and managed to find one stamped with his birth month and birth year. I now want to find something of my birth month and year (June 1970). I want to get my son a watch to start him off now, what would you suggest. He’s a mature 9 year old and we’ve always preferred dressing him in a more grown up cool casual way.

Never knew Fred Savage was such a humble, likeable dude. He's got a great, unpretentious collection there. Hey Fred, one flub: 7:40 it's tachymeter, not tachometer.

Thoroughly enjoyed having Fred talk about his watches. He expressed the same feelings I have for my collection. Great episode of Talking Watches.

holy shit - I think I would cry if my kids shared a passion like this. "Is that a vintage Cartier?" I WOULD DIE
