Hofbräu Dunkel 🇩🇪 - Review

The traditions on which this brewery was founded date back to the 16th century. Following the rules of the German Purity Law, this simple yet complex dunkel blew our minds with its notes of walnut, red wine and chocolate. Dark beers were being made in Bavaria long before the advent of pale, lighter beers such as lagers. This dunkel was the first brew to be served in the historic Hofbräuhaus in Munich, making it one of the most relevant and storied beers we've reviewed to date.

OK, I couldn’t agree with you more. The beer is fantastic. For this type of a beer particular for cold weather, I don’t think you could beat it. It’s not my choice for hot weather, but for cold weather or even better still. I’ve worked with Germans in the past and we can’t avoid beer when you’re working with German . And of the things they would always say is “the first is for thirst and the second is for taste.” I don’t think this is a thirst beer. I think that goes to Rababurger. That would be my choice for first.. and it is delicious But this, with all its complexities ooohhhh! it’s a perfect second - drink this nice and slow tasting all those different notes wow! Just wow.

@@BeerBrackets favorite is franziskaner dunkel. but its hard to get here. i like my local altstadt hefe a lot, and i love good old shiner bock. I just bought some other local stuff-live oak hefe, and am about to try it for the first time right now. i am interested in trying hofbrau dunkel.

In America they sell 12 packs of Warsteiner Pilsner and Dunkel at the grocery store for 12 dollars a pack. Warsteiner dunkel is 4.8 and is better!

Right?? It’s definitely meant to be drank slowly and savoured. Such a fantastically complex beer.
