My father would have LOVED your channel. He was born in the UK in 1931, and grew up with steam. Loved steam engines, model railways, etc. He passed away 10 years ago, and never really became computer savvy, sadly. If he were still around, I'd teach him how to use KZbin just to watch your channel. Cheers.

Thank you for your kind comment, I wish my Father was still around, but sadly he died aged 65 years.

Hogwarts Castle is the locomotive named after the Wizard Castle in the stories by J K R. I Thought the the engine Is a LMS Red 460 Princess, But I am in America now, but in My younger years, 460's were black ,, and 462 tank , running either direction, passenger, and goods trains. Tell me more about the 4-6-6'-4 In Southern green I never knew that BR had that Wheel arrangement . In the US has the 844 on the Union Pacific. I would like to know about making a locomotive , To run on a rolling road. 4664, 4884

It is really a Great Western "Hall " class locomotive.

Is the answer the connection rods? The side rod hasn’t been profiled like the main rod?

no

the connection rods are not part of the chassis, that's part of the distribution

I remember the first time I fired up a steam engine. I believe I was 4 or 5 year's old.. my grandfather and I sat down at the diner table.. it was so exciting😆😅

Yes just delved into what some call the New Testament which starts with the Bulldogs and ends with 1609 the latest Pannier tanks. Tis the frames being too high they should be the same height as the running boards!!!. The works wanted to call the last built Hall THATS HALL But were told to be sensible! But there was one time the BOSS Mr Collet was away and the boys wanted to see just how fast she would go. The results being a closely guarded secret way beyond City of Truro??? David and Lily.

It’s missing the cross head driven pump or have you taken that off already and I haven’t noticed it?

not fitted, only the eccentric sheave is there ....

Coupling rods reversed ?

yes - back to front - I will need to address this problem . .

Hmmm, I must have looked at this thing for over 10 minutes. (Maybe I'm not a purist) Trouble is is that models, even operable ones take shortcuts and liberties with things. The front bogeys seem too rigid to me, but maybe that's normal for this locomotive. The side rods are odd, the hinge is leading the main crank. When I compared this to other similar locomotives the hinge follows the main crank. But I also found examples that had it the way this model has it soooooo. . I'm not altogether sure.

are all three sets of wheels supposed to be flanged on this?

They are all flanged as they should be . . . .

Is it the inside valve gear? If I remember, Halls were 2-cylinder.

The counterweights on the driving wheels don't seem to be cast in?
@keithappleton6 жыл бұрын
I don't think that the counterweights are "cast in" on the full size either . . . .
@greg469556 жыл бұрын
After doing some research to be sure, the drive wheels had the counterweights cast in i.e it wasn't a seperate piece.

cross head guides the cylinders and the counter weights by the looks of it.

The immediate detail that catches my eye is the black paint on the inside of the frames. Should be red, at least that's my stab at the issue you're referring to.

I can definitively say you're the weirdest person I know because you don't like to put your hands in smoke boxes for recreational purposes

People who do not blow down or at least empty their boiler at the end of the day completely baffle me. It's the only way you'll reduce the amount of debris from collecting around the mud ring (or whatever you call the bit of the boiler surrounding the bottom of the firebox in the UK)

THe pilot truck isnt equalizing. I wonder if it was on the ground more than on the rails. When I say equalizing? I mean that it should flex to the track. The back axle should have dropped down as it isnt supported. Hopefully it is just grime that is keeping it from moving. Otherwise some of your talented engineering skills will be in order. I look forward to that vid.

the front bogie is fine.

The only obvious thing missing is the cab, boiler, and smokebox. Trying for the obvious. As to the valve motion. I am gathering the other commentors never heard of having inside motion. As I can see the lift arms for what could be for reverse inside the frame in front of the lead axle.
