As an older person with both carpal tunnel & arthritis, I find the broom trials almost impossible to complete, so I prefer utilizing my flying beasts TBH. I wish these games had been available when I was a younger person & had full dexterity (smiles). Thanks for making this video - it's much appreciated.

Controls are trash. They have you move your character on two diff sticks instead of keeping it to one and camera turning on the other. My brain feels all over the place when flying. I see why they didn’t add quidditch now 😂

I definitely appreciate you being real and putting more effort into helping others play and giving most helpful tips rather than just making a video for the sake of making a video. I swear it’s frustrating controlling this freaking broom when camera and broom controls are split between the two sticks. I’m on console so you may not understand but basically your camera U/D is on the left stick while your camera L/R is on the right stick. Broom control on the right stick is up & down while on the left stick it’s L/R based on screen orientation NOT the direction the character is facing. It makes flying less of a “I’m actually in on the broom” feel and more so a “I’m controlling a blob of pixels on my screen” feel. Far less of a personal experience this way and I hope they fix the controls for console in the future.

I fully agree! Even on PC, the flying controls are wonky as hell. I actually assumed it would be easier to control on console, but I guess not lol. I plan to do a video today actually on my gripes with the game. Overall I love it, but there are definitely a few things which are either almost game breakers or really and truly are game breakers lol. Thank you also for pointing out how I am choosing the content of my videos. I absolutely detest clickbait lol. I want my videos to be exactly as described and to legitimately be helpful to people

I almost did a mooncalf dance when I managed the second race on the console after at least 20 attempts 🥳 I already turned down the sensitivity but it's still all wobbly and I'm glad that others feel the same. The third race is reaaally tough. I have to get better by a minute (!!) and I just want to beet Imeldas time. Don't know if I ever manage that. At least adjust the racing time according to game difficulty 🙈

@jamesmorris9120 , It's basically the same issue on PC. Movement is on the keyboard and vision is on the mouse. It os so easy to misjudge where precisely you're at in relation to where you're going, and when you have to finetune it - which isn't really possible, you have to learn to predict based on past experience because you simply cannot see exactly what the distance is to a balloon or a ring - you can't rely on what you can see. It is very frustrating. Will they 'fix it' in the future? I'm not sure if they made it this way on purpose, I mean obviously they've had people test it. But it would definitely be nice if vision and movement was attuned to beter match real movement-and-vision. ......... @Akalisama77 , You write: "I actually assumed it would be easier to control on console" So did I, but I remember - from the times I've tried playing on console - that it is in fact melee that tends to be easier, which means it's the close-up stuff that's often better on console because you can turn so fast on your heals, whereas on PC you use your mouse to turn around, and you just can't turn a full circle in one movement. - I still thought it was easier on console, though. I only found your channel just now, so I've only watched this video right here, but I'll check and see if you did create one about the negatives of the game, I'm sure it'll be an interesting watch. ......... @laurav.1640 , I haven't even gotten past the first race yet. My character (the first one, I've created two) is lvl 34 and only has the final trial left of the main storyline, so I'm doing a lot of side quest stuff. Like I wrote above, the broom racing isn't really fun, although it could easily be so if there was time to maneuvre when you find you've misjudged distance and position of the rings/balloons. But that's just it, when you find out, it's too late (that's why Akalisama's tip at the end of the video is pure gold to me). Well, best of luck! Of course, as I write this you've most likely long since completed all the races and the game as a whole too, but I wish you luck anyway. :) .......... - Guys, can you imagine if driving was this skewed?

I honestly just kinda have that mentality in general. No one gives a crap about the second best at anything. Anyway, I just got to the first time trial, and I already beat Imelda, but I was hoping to get the top time so I can just be done with this course. After not even being able to get under 1:40, I'm now wondering if I should wait on those broom upgrades to make it easier, so does anyone know if that's an option, or do those not affect these trials? If they don't, I guess I'll just have to keep grinding it down.

This was so hard when I began. Finally got it but after many pitiful attempts. If you can get the early part of this done it gets easier because it’s more level at the end. Only advice I can give is keep your foot on the gas the whole time and use little taps left or right to get straight.

I give up with the broom trials. They're bloody awful and whoever did them should be fired imo. It's probably different for different consoles, but it's impossible for me. I can't even do the first damn race. Utter crap in an otherwise brilliant game. Even your tip couldnt help me, they didn't give non-gamers like me a snowballs chance in hell to complete this trial with the tight time frame and absolutely disgusting control mechanics. This quest will stay in my menue forever. Its garbage - which is a shame, because i love flying brooms all over the place otherwise, so sucks that i cant get the upgrades due to god awful game design.

GUYS: probably the better advice is to make sure you get your broom upgrades from the Hogsmeade brooms NPC! For instance for the very first race that starts at the Quidditch pitch, we're supposed to beat 2:32 or so and my best time was 2:35 with no upgrades. After the 1st upgrade, I was able to beat this time with many yellow bubbles skips.

@@LastBastian I don't remember exactly but the quest line is waaaay esrlier than 34. There's some Slytherin NPC at the Quidditch pitch and there's also a guy who owns a broom shop in Hogsmeade. The guy with the shop will offer you upgrades periodically as you do the races. You don't need to finish 1st to progress I think anywhere in top 3 is fine.

Flying a broom with controller is easy for me. Use only left stick for moving left and rights, right stick for up and down. Also: Don't try right stick for left/right, that will be going lost your focus. 😅 I don't play keyboard and mouse, feels uncomfortable for me and make me harder to flying a broom. 🙃

PS5 here. I boosted the camera sensitivity to like 1.8 and acceleration sensitivity to 0.8. The golden bubbles aren’t needed if you hold down both triggers.

No way I can do these. If you put it in story mode and try twice it will let you skip it and pretend you won!! You can still get the upgrades and stuff. When you're done you can put it back on the mode you normally play and continue with the game.

Guys, HUGE TIP. Make sure you received last upgrade to your broom before trying to beat this time. I tried to do it for 3,5hours and then realized I haven't got it...... After making upgrade i beat it first try... xD

I kinda hate this. I loved it at first. But then this 3rd one came I can't even maintain speed 🤷‍♂️ I'm going full speed and she just cassually sides by me and poofs away not to be seen again while I struggle to control the damn thing, which is never an issue unless it's a fkn time trial with a specific route I hate that you can't stop or restart the race, or even drop out; you literally have to finish the whole route every single time you try, even when you fuck up in the beginning and somehow get stuck behind a rock and rather than fly away and get back on track, you're just jamming up that rock like you think you can fly through, despite trying to do the opposite and it's just so goddamn frustrating.. I've always disliked racing games because of this. The lack of freedom really messes with my playstyle

There is a way to quit before you've completed the route through the race when you realize it's too late to win. Watch the video again, he mentions how to do it. Best of luck!... Okay, her's how you do it (it doesn't take you out of the race, but it resets it so you don't have to complete a race you know you've already lost): Fly away from the route until it says in red text on the screen that you must go back. Don't go back, and the game will simply place you back at the starting line where the race begins. That's all there is to it. - It's still annoying because you have to complete at least one whole race, but you won't have to do it over and over if you don't want to.

Aaaaah so sorry I am slacking on my replies, this is a few days late. All you need to do is fly away for approx. 5-10 seconds and it teleports you back to the start and you can start again =) What I suggest for you is find the specific areas you are having trouble with, restart the race and then when you get to that point fly through it then turn around and fly backwards a bit and just keep repeating that section. As long as you stay in the general track area it won't reset you. If you want to reset just make a sharp left/right and fly completely away from the track

Guys. If you are playing PS5.... I just figured this out. If you go under the settings , turn off the motion sensor on the controller. Basically if it's on, everytime you turn the controller, your person will move, too. Turn this off and you will have better control

So far as I am aware this is more for completionists and will not hinder you from completing the main story. It's more of a distraction event for you to take a break from the main game

You miiiiiiight have to beat like the easy time to to advance the quest (I don't remember at this point), but beating the top times are completely optional. Don't even try until you have completed more of the main quests and unlocked both the upgrades

I'm desperate at this point. I'm doing the Irondale set finally, after the first set at the Quidditch pitch took me forever. The tall of my broom slaloms all over the place, no matter how careful I am. It's incredibly frustrating and I think flying is the worst part of the game. I use a PS4 so I know the controls are different for you but god damn, they could have more this a bit more intuitive. At this point, I just want someone to fucking do it for me because it's getting me irrationally pissed off.

If you put the game in story mode, you can go through the race and at the end it will ask you if you want to skip the trial. I had to do this because the race was literally my last quest left and i just couldnt beat it lol

So you'll know you're on track if you are either right behind or ahead of the "ghost" I think I usually passed it around the middle of the course. Find the points where the ghost is suddenly getting really far ahead of you and just practice those sections until you are able to keep up or pass the ghost. I had to practice the last 10 or so rings quite a bit because there are a lot of really close together sharp turns at the end. Best of luck!!!!

Hey there! I'm ngl I honestly don't remember if this is the first or second race. I 100% the game in about 2 weeks and stopped playing/making content for it. I am currently playing through Diablo 4 and thinking about content to make for it. That being said, regardless of which race it is, if you are wanting to beat the time trials I would wait until you have progressed the campaign far enough to get the third and final upgrade for your broom. Then follow the tips in the video and the other wonderful contributions from those who have commented below. The controls for flying are quite simply put: atrocious. It takes quite a bit of practice to get it down correctly which is why I made this video in the first place. Best of luck!

Did you do it on controller or keyboard+mouse? I failed a lot of times on controller and switching to keyboard was worse. Mouse has better camera control but hard to navigate properly with keyboard... Camera acceleration etc mess my time a lot and changing settings on camera helps a bit.

I use a PC with keyboard and mouse. We didn't really have a console system growing up outside of a Super Nintendo for a year or two hahaha, so I never got used to using console controllers. I DID mess with my keyboard and mouse settings, but that was just for my own personal preferences. I imagine you would have greater control with a console controller however, if you figure out how to do the whole turning right before you enter the ring that I was trying to showcase, then you should be having to make very minor adjustments most of the time

1) PCs work 1,000 times better than consoles (for me). 2) This is the WORST programming for flight EVER. I try every adjustment, but it doesn't matter. Over-rwaction every time. 3) If you are doing trials in STORY mode, it should be EASY. Its NOT. Really like this game, but the flight controls are flat-out horrid. For certain people, with certain controls, they are okay. For most, its just trash.

Best advice I can give there is to mess with your controller settings in game... There is no optimum setup for that because everyone has different preferences and the settings are slightly different each game. If it makes you feel any better, until I figured out my own settings + started turning like how I show in the video, I probably ran this track 50+ times. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was 100+ lol. Practice until you randomly get that perfect run... Then never come back again 😂
