This is great! The funky stuff is fun but you can find a clav being played funky all day long. The real treat here is to hear the clav played in a clavichord style and the Pianet T being played as a real instrument.

Right there with you man, it's hard to find clavinet music that isn't funk, which is unfortunate because I fell in love with the clav from listening to songs by Sun Ra and Hermeto Pascoal, never cared much for the "Superstition" sound (still love the song tho). Maybe it's because I'm a guitarist so I don't care for more guitar type playing, I like to hear the clav's "guitar" sound do things with keyboard phrasing that a guitar can't.

There's a brief Baroque-style clavinet solo in "Pow!" by Graham Central Station.

Great to hear this thanks. Bought one these in 1996 from Johnny Roadhouse in Manchester UK. It looked a mess and weighed a tonne as we carried back to my Vauxhall Chevette! We settled on £200 as a price. It cleaned up great though as it was just tape residue but I had a lot of fun changing the hammer tips a few years later, not easy! The reeds for the pianet were pretty rusty though and I could never find replacements,

Seriously? Did you sell it back to them? That's where I used to mess about on one a few years ago

1st time I hear the lick: "hey, this guy can play!". 2nd and 3rd time: "Woah, he's on fire!" 4th: "oh, I see..."

To think that today's producers can spend minutes and minutes trying to recreate the sound of a skipping lp when back in the day we could do it naturally within seconds! HAHAHA

I have one in my garage. I bought it in 1984 (roughly) from a second-hand music shop, on the other side of London, when I must have been around 16. Still has the hardcover too. I made enquiries into getting the old girl fixed up, a couple of years ago. I really should do it one day. It came with me when I emigrated to Australia in 1990 so parts are significantly harder (and more expensive) to come by but it will be with it. Oh yeah, and they are sooooo heavy lol.

Thanks! As the Clavinet D6 weighs a ton, I can only imagine how heavy this is…

I can't believe that I really passed up on a Clavinet D6 at my local secondhand store. From what I remember I think the power couldn't be turned on so I was listening to its acoustic sound only. It would be worth getting it fixed.

What's the difference between a D6 and this one?
@paulallen87777 ай бұрын
The Clavinet part of this is based on the Clavinet E7 which is said to have slightly different electronic circuitry for filtering out noise or something along those lines but then this has the Pianet T rubber pads and reeds within it too. Some say the E7 has a slightly different sound to the D6 but not sure how true it is. Pete Forrest who did a keyboard book said the mute is a different way around too on the Duo.

this is super cool to hear! So was this from a 10" record ? Are there demos like this for the other classic pianos? Like Wurlitzer rhodes and/or hammond?
@baward8 жыл бұрын
No its from a 7 inch flexidisc that was attached to a magazine (I forget which one), hence the terrible audio quality.
@robertledet8 жыл бұрын
oh neat, I figured you couldn't fit 10 mins of music on a normal 7" single. anyway, really cool!

It was probably one of those paper-thin 'flexi disc's' that came in magazines and things in the 70's & 80's
