I like how Germany can just steam roll and hold on for tears and not break a sweat....than Spain joins In and they fold like the Belgins did in...anyway recent war ever

The downfall of Germany is always the AI's unwillingness to protect its allies. Germany gets a *lot* of allies that are super weak and able to be easily navally invaded, and it won't move troops to squash those invasions until they border Germany itself. This is why the Italy war went the way it did in this game; Germany didn't care about the invasion until Italy became a German puppet, and then Germany moved one of their armies to completely halt the allied advance because it was now 'German territory'. Likewise, they don't care about Spain losing the war right up until the second Britain borders occupied France, then it becomes Germany's problem. If the German AI cared about its allies whatsoever the axis would be unbeatable in the current patch just because of how strong Germany is (largely due to it having a focus tree designed before Paradox decided crippling every nation would be cool)

Hitler not giving a damn about his allies could be considered historical however, as he only ever saw them as tools and has previously denounced any alliance not intended for waging war as "senseless and useless". That existing German AI behaviour should at least be retooled onto a leader trait for Hitler.

i've actually had an AI aussa repel the italian advance in my latest playthrough (as austria), they did it with ethiopia though

The best place to naval invade Germany seems to be the Netherlands, for some reason they never garrison it like france, sending one naval invasion in belgium to distract their garrisons might even give you a port with no resistance, the port touching both the english channel and eastern north sea is also most of the times undefended or have one really weak garrison, love the video btw

This is such a cool game! I love what you've done, the whole thing with Ethiopia and especially the hard fighting in Africa and then in Italy, even if it became a slog after that until you naval invaded France. Very impressive!

If you are planning on using a mod for the inevitable Belgium video, I can shamelessly recommend my 'Forgotten Nations' mod, which adds a few countries but Belgium definitely has the best tree included. I think that it strikes a good balance between fun new content and a vanilla somewhat balanced feel.

Did a similar thing with Ethiopia once and didn't actually end the war with the status quo thing when I took back the horn of Africa. Not sure if that's in play but that absolutely DESTROYED Italy due to them getting like -1% ticking war support per week as the conflict continued. By the time I kicked them out of North Africa and went on the invasion of Italy they were at 0% War Support for months. Sadly, and this frustrated me a lot... despite me having occupied and done most of the heavy lifting against Italy it was the UK that got the Regna del Sol puppet... Though plus side, that meant I didn't lose African holdings to the puppet...

I've never been a fan of the new Ethiopian & Aussan focus trees (nothing personal Bitter 😂). Idk they feel super underwhelming and you always get screwed eventually. Legitburget aside I've never seen a decent conquest with these two countries

The Marx portrait is very useful for extremely small nations but overall it's not that powerful as many people think. It gives you 500 manpower per week which is only 26k in a year. So yeah, 26k is good for countries like Aussa but countries with a population of even a few million won't really benefit from it. Especially countries with generic focus trees that can go down the "brown path" and take the manpower focuses from there. E.g. Finland with a core population of 3,6M and will benefit more from the brown focuses than from the portrait of Marx.

When I've played Afar, I was lucky enough that Italy conquered British Somaliland. So I was able to form the Horn of Africa just by not having Military Access with the UK. Of course, without military access, doing much more than that was difficult.

Germany is too much OP. You can beat them only with exhaustion of manpower or equipment. In my last run with the soviets i inflicted 20M deaths to germany only and they still had a capable army, it was impossible for me pushing through Bucharest, even if they had three fronts open against allies in greece, italy and normandy.

I think you screwed yourself out of your OP irregular buffs by adding that much infantry, maybe a 15 width would be better

No, those buffs work on a battalion level, but scale to the unit size. So a net gain, but it gets weaker as i add more infantry. But I need the infantry to make the divisions competent enough
