I usually don’t use light tanks at all. For mediums, I like 4 SPGs and then some amount of tanks and motorized (I don’t remember the number). The reason for so many spgs is because your breakthrough stat doesn’t have any effect once it’s higher than the enemy’s attack, so it’s better to swap some tanks for spgs to get more soft attack

I think the main problem with the achievements isn't the achievements themselves, but the game mechanics. Some of these would actually be cool, but because of the awful peace conferences, giant wars with no quick way to end them and cancerous a.i., they become extremely grindy and annoying. If they devs actually fixed the game most achievements would be fine.

Haha I disagree with a lot of the neutral ones. I think a ruthless achievement-hunt kinda makes you see each achievement as something tedious rather than something you do casually. Portugal joining GB is a bit funny and kinda historical, and could set up an interesting scenario if you wanna play ironman Portugal. But for Tommy it has just become a "1939 start, get democratic politician, join Allies then quit the game".

I feel the way Tommy approaches his thought on achievements is set far too in the super try-hard gamer mode, where Paradox is trying to appeal to a large crowd for their game and achievements. Yeah easy stuff for newbs, and pop culture references are always fun; but others for each nation that encourage you to try out mechanics, set little goals. Sure these aren't fun if you're literally booting up a brand new game every time you want to get one specifically, but... I don't think most people do that. Not that I agree with all of his assessments. Some nations who only have like, one or two achievements (Gran Colombia...) that are grindy annoyances... yeah, alright.

See... the way I do it is I try to combine boring achievements with the more interesting ones, so at least I can nail multiple in one playthrough. But then of course it also cranks up the difficulty a lot. You can luckily usually still get one or two achievements if you fail the hard one you're going for too, so it doesn't feel like such a slog.

I had a VERY different experience with Treading the Narrow Path. Sure, you can just go communist and AFK in the Axis until '45... But I went Monarchist, and held the line by myself, having a blast with micro-ing my infantry until the Allies finally managed a D-Day. I had to plan out my research, construction, and production meticulously, figure out the right order for the right focuses, and figure out how to defend parts of my country that weren't protected by flooding. And under the monarchist tree, I did the focus where the UK lets you annex Belgium and Luxemburg, netting me United Netherlands in the same run. I became spymaster of the Allies, had a fun submarine campaign and subsequent invasion of Japan, learned my way around strategy bombing, and I even managed to nuke Berlin before I finally took it. My own experience on Treading the Narrow Path was absolutely an S.

I disagree with you. After you are in a faction, you need to take them still. You have to control their land. The thing I did for the achievement ,was go fascist, and take the focus that gives u war goals against the countries. After that you just conqueror the countries. There is a high chance that the countries will join the allies, so you as Holland need to fight the allies. That is why I disagree.

I think most of this list is food but i think You forgot some requirements for those achivs. This one: form Austria - Hungary required to peace deal Axis and Allies and Commies if you took Bessarabia AND Japan if it was Old version where Japan could join Axis. It is skill based but for me its like 30 min of Hell - Super hard, very annoying if you lost in middle of game and in most attempts not fun. But when you do this achiv it gives SO much satisfaction that you beat that game.

I hope that it hasn't been said in the video already (I lack the time to watch it entirely), but he United Netherlands achieveme is a solid "sit and watch your screen" C tier. All you need to do is follow the "lead the minor democracies" line and to take the focus to diplo annex Belgium and Luxemburg. You can have it by 1938/1939 in a normal game, and probably as early as 1937 if you're rushing it.

I think I can agree with most of them, but definitely not with Imperial Germany killing Mussolini. Its C, at best maybe B. It requires you to win an easy civil war and then just take a focus later. Unless Im forgetting something there is nothing else you have to do, I will check later to be sure Quite a bit of E, D, C achievements is bad on their own, but when making a few at the time they can be quite interesting

Raid on the medway achievement isn't that bad, I got it by accident just by conquering the UK and annexing all their shit. If they don't exist then they don't have any capital ships I guess.
