You missed one of the best focuses “The Spirit Of Saint Bernard” it gives a flat +50% to the field hospital bonuses and a 1x 75% research bonus on field hospitals which means with only field hospitals 1 you get a 60% trickleback from casualties and with max level you get 100% so basically infinite manpower

12:31, the swiss redoubt happened irl, and its actually really interesting. Essentially, thoughout the 1800s and WW2, they turned the entire swiss alps into a fortress, making it virtually un-invadable.

something to consider; while you have cantonal power over 0%, it's worth going down the centre tree for at least 2 foci (Armed neutrality then Promote Henri or the other one), it allows you to get a free Army commander at 0.40 army xp per day, and unlocks the ability to trade PP to improve your militia divisions quantity and quality - these templates carry over to your new templates when you 'professionalise' the army better than drilling your troops burning equipment to modify weaksauce templates I think

choosing Saley as first advisor is better imho, with +50%(!) pp, then you wont do partial mob in the first year tho. Its a bit of juggling to get democracy down, it will take longer. But you can use the time to go down the focuses that give you the combat and land fort construction bonuses that require atleast 0% canton support. You can also go down to Axis gold first, or go down to the saint bernard focuses if you keep canton support in check. To annex Austria you need to be a bit quicker tho, but its overated. Swiss alone is alot easier to defend.
