My adopted nephew who works as a Las Vegas Police Officer recommended three shoe brands for people in law enforcement and security guard work: Brooks, Asics and Hoka! As a security guard, my feet and back were killing me from standing 8 to 12 hours at a time! I got custom made orthotics from my chiropractor which I have had since 1987 for my flat feet and the orthotics (covering the back 2/3rds of my feet) have an arch support! I use these orthotics for ALL of my shoes and have had no problem! I just bought the Hoka Bondi SR (Black Color) Size 7 Wide shoes yesterday, 12/21/2024, and have not tried them out yet with the orthotics! My suggestion is to get custom made orthotics for arch support from your chiropractor or podiatrist! I am puzzled by the 7.5 size Hoka shoe that you bought when you usually wear size 7! Despite this, I usually check all of my shoes to see if they have a built-in arch support, but I always put in my orthotics for arch support anyway on top of the removable insoles! All shoes MUST have arch support! You should not be standing several hours with your feet in pain feeling miserable on your hospital shifts! Good luck in your search for better shoes! Also, see if any of these sellers give nursing students a price break on these shoes (it doesn’t hurt to ask)! Yes, I spent $190.53 for the Hoka Bondi SR (Black Color) size 7 shoes as well and I am working as a security guard on New Year’s Eve 12/31/2024 at a hotel in Times Square! If these shoes don’t work out for me, I can return them at the latest by January 31, 2025!

Dear Zoey: My previous comments showed up twice! As an afterthought, you might consider getting the men’s version of these shoes for nursing to see if they work better for you! Unfortunately, sometimes the manufacturers make their products, in this case, shoes, better for men versus women which really ticks me off! My mom was always into fairness and inculcated that in me! I just don’t like people not being treated fairly, particularly women!!

actually, thats a great idea, I'll have to check out the men's version

I’ve had my first pair of hokas for two years so they’ve definitely paid for themselves lol Ordered my second pair which should be in tomorrow and I’m so excited!!

Well respectfully, you wore the shoe with an extra insole, then without insoles. Also these run true to size so it sounds like you’ve got the shoe too big as well. How about just wearing them the regular way they were made? With the insole it comes with. They’re really great shoes!!!!

I just got the same shoes for the same purpose but with a wide fit. I've never had arch support issues, so I can't speak to that, but hopefully, you can find a shoe that works out for you.

I would like to know what you mean when you say "add an extra insole". I wonder if you are like stacking them, one on top of the other, or replacing the insole the shoes come with with another one you find more appropriate for your feet. If you are stacking them, then maybe that could be the source of the problem. But I don't know, I'm not a native English speaker, so I might have gotten confused over nothing.

I have to add an arch support to most of my shoes. this is really for shoes that don't have any insert in them. I don't stack multiple, that would make the shoe too tight I think.

Have you tried the Powerstep insoles with the rigid arch support? Been buying a new pair of them with every shoe I’ve bought in the last 15 years, including my Bondi, and they’re incredible.

ou, i have not, I will definitely have to try those. my main issue is I can't have it too firm or too squishy. call me goldilocks
