The Fatal Ko theme first occurs when Reimu attacks, but Youmu counters the attack, thus switching to You wa Shock to avoid confusion. At least, that's what I think happened.

just to you guys... most of the K.O.'s of this video are made in the weather that makes spell cards uber powered AND with the counter attack bonus. You can see this on the bubble in the middle of both players life (it's allways the same) and also that sometimes the other player attacks just before the other starts the spell... only Reimu's "Fantasy heaven" grants insta kill if made...

Youmu's counter was actually under Typhoon, which basically gives you the story AI spellcard behavior (can't get flinched, but you get delayed on hit).

The fact that the fighters in this series actually have balanced attacks, well-rounded characters, more games to back it up (though not in the 2-D fighter genre), and spellcards that make it so it's not a matter of who can push a button combo faster, but rather who has more skill than the other. That and there are indeed references to HnK within this game.

A couple of these fighters did eventually get into newer Touhou fighting games, namely Reimu, Marisa (of course), Tenshi and Yukari. They're pretty different though, so comparing Soku to AoCF is like comparing apples to oranges (not to mention Gouyoku Ibun, which is in a different genre entirely and is more like a vegetable if we're going by the analogy from before, though it does have Utsuho as a boss).

I think it would have been cooler for the Reverse Fatal KO if it played Reimu's version first, then swapped to the HnK Fatal KO as Youmu hits Reimu. As a side note: if you aren't managing the damage necessary to replicate these, try using Control Rods on _both_ players, since part of their effect is decreased defense.

ZUN, the creater, is the sole member of team shanghai alice and is the main programmer, scriptwriter, graphic artist, and music composer and almost everything else . You can tell that the developers got lazy with the characters because the returning characters look exactly the same as in IaMP. If this is a different game from IaMP you would be sure that they change the returning character's sprites . Do not do so and it's just a minor revision. They gave Marisa four themes but they reused her sprite over and over.

In the actual game this video comes from, the only fatal KO occurs when Reimu (the red and white priestess character) uses her final spell card which is more or less an instant kill.
