Craig McCraken (the creator of the show) has previously stressed that Lord Dominator "is NOT a teenager," so the most specific thing we know about her age is that she's 'no younger than 20.' Whether she's an adult who's chronologically past her teens (i.e., 20+ in her home planet's years) or just mentally/biologically older than that (i.e., past her species' age of adolescence) is up to the viewer to headcanon ☺️ _[I personally read her as both.]_ If you saw somewhere that Hater was 17-18, then that was just somebody's headcanon. WOY crew members have referred to him as being the 'ultimate teenager', but only in terms of his emotional maturity (or I guess _immaturity.)_ Hater is a grown adult of unidentified chronological/mental age, just like the rest of the cast.

The key to understanding Dominator's character is recognizing she has the worst type 8 complex known to man

Think about it She is really self sufficient- having built not just her bots but all her tech and is canonical self taught- and rejects the idea that she is someone that needs help. She isn't interested in making allies or sharing power, even with other villains ("all of those former villains don't you see, each of them with shaking knees has knelt before me, so I'm not your teammate or your partner in crime"). How it's not enough for her to top the villains leader board, she has to get the other villains to admits SHES the greatest, surrender and lock them up. How she only accepts people who does what she tells them to do without question and won't tell HER what to do as "friends". Her aggressive reaction to being asked to apologize and then threatened in "The Night Out" and her concluding at the end that Friendship Is Stupid, Actually. How it's implied in the same ep that Silvia was her first friend, at least in a while. How she enjoys putting others down and having power over them. How instead of an army of people or a second in command, she just has an army of obedient bots. How in the endtag of MFH she does the cleaning and inventory management work herself. I could go on but you get the point by now

Ok so, the problem with giving Dominator a backstory is if you're not carefully, you can EASILY wander(heh) into "oh I'm evil because something bad happened to me" or "I'm evil because I have some issues or an insecurity I'm compensating for" which is a problem because a big part of Dom's character is how she's *not* like that. She's evil because she loves it. She's just Like That. Maybe a backstory could work if it's used to hammer that in. Like she had a more privileged upbringing than the other mains and nothing bad happened to her to make her evil. She just is. Or maybe it could work if it's used to explain other aspects of her and not her evilness?? Like why she values her individually/personal autonomy so much?? Idk

No they wouldn't have. She's an extremely abusive person who doesn't care about anybody other than herself. Hater is nothing but a joke to her - if she _had_ "given him a chance," it's guaranteed that it would've been nothing more than a ploy just so she could torture and humiliate him for the fun of it. (Which she can do without accepting his date offer, anyway.) It's a *_good_* thing she doesn't want to date. Oh, and she's also not into dudes, so there's that, too.
