I always used to listen to CJ Johnson's songs , the mentor of Pastor Flemming during my own trials . Many of his albums are on youtube , i find these meter hymns and "Primitive worship" practices to be very comforting . This is our roots in worship as Afro-Americans , and i dare to suggest as Americans in general . Evangelical practices are nothing compared to old time camp meeting style , its the small town and village in all of us , a memory becoming more distant as the world becomes faster . The Church on the hill , and the forever watchful eye of Grandmother ...

I enjoy the old camp meeting songs because they encourage remind me of going to church when I was a young child in Mississippi. I didn't know what they were singing about back then but these songs encourage me so much now. They push my faith level back where it need to be. I love Pastor Fleming for these precious reminders of songs sung at a time when our people didn't have much of anything. It makes me grateful for God's many blessings He has given me and what He continue to give me because I am His child. Amen.
