Holding Out For A Hero (from Shrek 2) 【covered by Anna】

Hello everyone! This week I sang Holding Out For A Hero from Shrek 2 (also sung by Bonnie Tyler).
The Shrek version just hits a lil’ harder, doesn’t it? This was one of those occasions where I severely overestimated my abilities and forgot that there’s a whole chorus in this song. Who woulda thunk. No biggie, right? Let’s just whip out a full choir and main vocals in a week. Nice. Awesome. Got it.
I did not got it.
After a good and healthy “I’m overwhelmed” sims session, I asked Palm to worry about the choir parts for me. It’s really wonderful having friends who you can pawn work (and stress) off to. The older I get, the more I appreciate it. It is in the moments like these where I infact realize that I am but a mere mortal who can only do so much in the span of 7 days. I’ve been pretty good about managing my workload and pacing myself for the majority of 2020 but every once in a while, this human flesh suit gets stressed and I am reminded that I cannot do everything by myself as much as I may try. I used to see myself as a lazy person but now I’m painfully aware that I’m a chronic overworker. Anywho, this is Anna’s friendly reminder to be kind to yourself and take a break when you need to! Pawn some work off to friends!

As a person who knew of this cover since it’s release I would like to tell you a story: One day I was watching a very rare and exciting new installment of a series my friend got me into. Well as the white haired hero was taken by the long dead jellyfish bride, and as he was pulled with strings against his charge, a pink haired princess who can heals everyone except herself, a familiar tune starts to come on. My lips start to sound out the the first words without me even thinking of what I was saying, because I’ve done it many times before. I realized what was happening and screamed and belted out, singing along as I was so happy and excited as we watch the princess fight and escape with her hero in tow. You reignited my love for singing, Anna. Don't get me wrong, I still loved to sing before I discovered you, but that love was fading. School was taking a hefty toll and I honestly felt like I was becoming jaded and burnt out, and the insecure career path of a professional singer didn't look appealing enough to pursue, so I thought singing was just going to become one of those things about me that dies... But then I found your Almost There cover and started singing along to it in the car on the way to school.
