The storms and tragedies of contemporary life can be termed a spiritual crisis, in which we must awaken to a greater sense of self or else become more isolated and subject to increasing feelings of isolation and helplessness.
Because all things are ultimately interconnected, the challenges we face and the changes underway signal a genuine transformation of the world. Change can be disconcerting; yet in troubled times the inner threads of genius, imagination and wisdom become both more important and surprisingly more available.
Upavita is an old Sanskrit term for the eternal thread of golden imagination that makes each life valuable and noble from the beginning. This sacred thread of life connects the mind with the heart; it ties us to the dream of life and leads us to the purpose of our soul. While holding it, all the moments of our lives make sense; without it, all can seem accidental and pointless.
Call it dharma or the inner law of our being; call it a life dream or a spiritual calling; we are each called to awaken to the inner plotline of a story trying to unfold from within. In learning to express the mythic pattern woven within, we learn to contribute to the renewal of community as well as a restoration of nature.
What we need at this time is not a minor repair, but a major transformation of the world that can only start from the inside. Transformation at the level of the individual heart and soul generates the imagination and collective energy needed to change the conditions of the world.
Science and Nonduality is a community inspired by timeless wisdom, informed by cutting-edge science, and grounded in direct experience. We come together in an open-hearted exploration while celebrating our humanity.

What an awesome prophecy ....” Collective Right of Passage”..... ie Covid 19. “A culture re-imagined” “We’re down to just a minute” That was posted in Feb 2020, just a minute before the biggest collective, or must I say the ONLY collective event taken place on our entire planet in at least a century. If this doesn’t invite a re-imagination of every culture on the planet as we knew it, then i can’t imagine what will. Wonderful insightful enlightened story teller. Thank you Mr Meade.

Wow, I really can relate in your story. I am writing a book (autobiography) called 'Soulmates', whom the angels named Draga. I think it's not coincidence. It's about my partner who came to pass away. My life is a rollercoaster...

@Jared Dopps. This week we had a terrorist attack on our local London high street. Footage immediately went up on the internet of the young terrorist in his death throws, having being shot by police. Shortly afterwards the footage disappeared. A good neighbour on our road recently took his own life in a very brutal way. Mental health services had failed him. Yesterday another neighbour told me he is dying. Life and death seem so unfathomable. I lost my partner 15 years ago, and I try hard - as I said - to make a life that has some feeling of sense, some sort of redemption. I’ve been physically ill for some 40 years or so, and now finding physical pain is wearing me out. I survived cancer at 22, and felt indescribably lucky - I learnt to live for the moment - long before that became a popular piece of wisdom. But I have been growing older and have become more fragile, and I’m currently experiencing my 90 something parents trying to deal with old age positively, as they run an ever increasingly hard assault course. At times I feel like I am losing my sense of sanity, I suppose. ‘difficult to quite put it into words. The wisdom - if that is what it is - that I have as I get older, is that life is easier when you are younger, and maybe making a family life, but that the problems that older age and poor health bring make you very vulnerable, and things hit harder. Simply my observations. As Leonard Cohen said, ‘we are so lightly here’, like the flame of a candle. I wasn’t able to have children and maybe that has something to do with it, I don’t know. I was a teacher for 30 years, and worked with kids from difficult backgrounds, but looking back realise there was a kind of safety in the bubble of school life. I then had to retire early due to my declining health. Now life seems so random and unfathomable, despite the huge freedoms of being retired and able not to have to worry about being ill and getting myself to work. But continuous hospital visits have worn me down - it’s very depersonalising sitting alone in clinics waiting for news of various sorts, despite knowing how lucky I am to access healthcare. My apologies if this is difficult to read, but it’s how I feel, and when I say I’m trying hard I mean that I’m trying hard to find the good, the precious, in what feels like a kind of chaos. I simply can’t relate to what the guy in the video has to say. I don’t think my experiences are unusual. I’m just an average kind of human being, and that really is my whole point. Life is beautiful at times, but also inexplicably tragic and tough day to day, and it will, I suspect, be a long time before the sight of that young 20 year old terrorist settles somewhere inside me.

@@user-bp6gp2rc1v Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Your life's experience is so valuable and rich. I am also a teacher but with less experience than you. But I sense what you are going through because my parents went through something very similar. The pain and suffering because of loss and trauma that people have to go through during their lives is unfathomable. Aging in our Western culture is much harder because this culture adores youth and productivity. The value of human life in general is undermined and we feel disconnected going through life without proper support that we all need especially when we grow older. This is what Michael Meade describes in his song: the dog unraveled the yarn and the weaved garment is lost and we have lost the connection to the wisdom of the elders and sages. We have lost the connection to our core center that is naturally loving and caring because it is found in our own hearts. We find ourselves in a dark place because we have lost our connection to the wisdom of our own souls. How do we make sense of this life that is filled with so much struggle, exhaustion and not enough support. Working and trying harder will not help. I think this garment is weaved again through connection without judgement. That is exactly what we just did - communicating with each other and sharing and encouraging to find ways to value this life as it is. Of course, I will always fall short in attending to the depth of your life's experience, however, this little exchange could brighten your day. Sending lots of blessings your way.
