Hole in the Wall 9 Inward Toward Champagne Bottle Until I Saw the Leak

Hole in the Wall Cave. Near Marianna Florida. Merrit's Millpond. 5/18/24
3 diver team. Plan was an upstream dive taking the T toward Century Tunnel past Big Ben and London Bridge all the way to the Champagne Bottle which I had not been to see in several years and one of our team had never seen. Visibility in the cave this day was less than it is on many days. We each had rebreathers. We all had 2 DPVs - 6 DPVs total. We ended up dropping our tow DPVs at one point. The visibility was so poor that we ended up scootering past the Century Tunnel T and had to turn around. Once we were well beyond Big Ben and London Bridge, I noticed one of my buddy's regulators had started leaking from a swivel. It had not been leaking earlier in the dive when it had come unclipped, and I handed it to him. As this was his backup gas supply (open circuit bailout), we ended up turning the dive and never got the Champagne Bottle. I stopped filming when I saw the leak. You can see a steady stream of bubbles on the last video in this series near my buddy's right shoulder.

wow, thats quite a low viisibility

This cave is highly variable and can be worse than this or much better, but yes, this was less than I would have wanted. But I have recently seen much worse, albeit on the exit after going through a very low and silty area that had much better initial visibility this was what I saw on exit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5OoppuBm99-apIsi=Ixch8t3QBSzaRDPO

Fun dive, yes. Completely unplugging from other day to day worries, yes. End of Line, no. Had a leak and exited the cave instead of proceeding. Cheers!
