recently bought celebrity skin. the most beautiful album ever. Still, the the biggest chills i got was during 'petals' when she said "tear the petals off of you/make you tell the truth". brought me back to live through this on 'asking for it' - "i will tear the petals off of you/ rose red i will make you tell the truth"...coincidence? i think not. Courtney Love continues to be the most genius woman in the history of alternative rock.

I think she wrote this about all of the people around her who were dying because of drugs. It sounds like it's about her falling into that pit of drug-induced despair and watching everyone around her destroy themselves before finally seeing things for how they truly are and climbing out of it.
