Would y'all have added the zest to the cranberries, the cream cheese, or divide it and add it to both like we did?

The cranberries! What a wonderful dish! I can't wait to try it! Thank you, Paula! Love you!!

I would definitely add to the Cranberries because Cranberry and Orange just brings the planets in my world to order. However, I am intrigued by adding Orange 'Jest' to the cream cheese, mayo and nuts! I am making this right now as I watch this video (have had to repeat over half a dozen times). I love the cream cheese, mayo and pecans, but I think I am with you and Eddie on this. I'm thinking I should put 'Jest' in the cream cheese too. The only one stopping me is me, dog-gone-it! Only thing I'm doing different in mine is I made extra cranberry sauce for later and I am a dark brown sugar-aholic, so I used bit of dark brown sugar, plus more when I saw in your video that you thought maybe you could have used a little more sugar...that was the permission I needed to add more dark brown sugar. I can not wait until the cranberry sauce cools to start the layers! (Yummy!) What I have tasted along the way has me quoting you, Miss Paula, "It's out of this world!"

This is my Aunt's Cranberry Salad but I call it my Mother's because I helped her make it every year. In my Aunt's and my mother's honor I make it every single year. I have already made it. It is really good all year round and you can even freeze it. MOTHER'S CRANBERRY SALAD 1 LB CRANBERRIES AND 2 ORANGES GROUND TOGETHER. LET STAND IN 2 - 1/4 CUPS SUGAR FOR 1 HOUR. THEN ADD 1 CUP CHOPPED CELERY, 1 CUP DICED APPLE, 3 CUPS NUTS, 1 SMALL CAN CRUSHED PINEAPPLE SOAK 2 - 1/2 ENVELOPES OF PLAIN GELATIN IN 1 CUP COLD WATER, THEN ADD 2 CUPS BOILING WATER. MIX TOGETHER AND CONGEAL I use a food chopper or processor,

I don't get people's problem with cranberry sauce. We always served both jellied and chunky and was lucky to have a spoonful leftover. Each year we'd make more and still wouldn't have any left. And it's incredibly good for you. Cranberries are called bounce berries and should always be bounced to make sure they're ripe. Maybe that's where people go wrong when they make it. Every year, usually a man in the family, will take the berries and gather the kids to bounce the berries. Also do a bit of math with them, having them count the number of berries in the recipe, measuring the berries, counting how many the chickens get that didn't bounce, what percentage was ripe and so on. They always have a good time with it. Of course, sometimes they pelt each other with the unripe berries, but that's fun too.

Me too. My new favorite cranberry sauce recipe is just cranberries sugar and believe it or not some frozen strawberries stirred in at the end. It really tastes more like a tart Jam and it is very good on biscuits or toast when you have some left over. I definitely eat more than a tablespoon! But I'm not a meat eater so I do not care for turkey but instead I enjoy the cranberry sauce with rolls and all of the yummy side dishes.

You can make your own jellied cranberry sauce. Cranberries have their own pectin. Take a bag of cranberries and put them in a pot add a 3/4 c orange juice and the zest of 1 orange cook it until it starts to thicken, about 15-20 min or so. . Put in a jar or some container you have and it will jelly up as it cools. as it cools you can cut up an orange in small slices, and apples and nuts and put it in your cranberries and stir them in. Add enough sugar to your own taste

My new favorite cranberry sauce recipe: 2 cups cranberries, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar, 10 Oz frozen or fresh sliced strawberries, 2 tbs tapioca ( to thicken ). This makes what tastes like a yummy tart Jam and it's so good left over on biscuits or toast. Our family wasn't crazy about cranberry sauce until I discovered this recipe which seemed much more palate pleasing. You can put in a little more sugar if you want it to be less tart

Drats...my comment went to cyberspace. Anyway, I mentioned my mom did make me Oceanspray with a slice of cream cheese. My beau eats jelly with cream cheese...he's from NY though...so I'm not sure it's a Southern thing. People don't eat more than a tablespoon because, in my opinion, they don't like home made...but the canned...they are just snooty about it. The can slice is more than a table spoon. Anyway, please go back to putting 'Love and Best Dishes before these videos because I missed a bunch of them thinking they were older ones.
