The ballad song "Red River Valley " emanated from the Red River of the North not the Red River of the South. The lady of the ballad was rumored to be a metis from Ontario just north of the border. The 'cowboy' was changed from 'soldier' understand. Check it out. It could be a real winner as a theme song for UND Music. It is a wonderful, catchy ballad.
