I agree with Benji. He is showing the kids how to be respectful. To not just interrupt people when they're still talking. So by telling the kids, "I'm still talking to mom, wait while we finish our conversation, and then my attention is on you." Is needed. You can't talk to 2 people at the same time. So. Anyway. It's difficult balancing being a parent, but having a good partnership is so helpful.

My mother taught me to gently put my hand on her arm if I needed to talk to her while she was having a conversation with someone else and it helped a lot! I still do it with her as an adult lol

My husband and I have three kids and we had to learn to put each other first. Although our children will be small for only a short period of time once they are gone from the home chances are they’re not coming back and it’s just us. We’d hate to not have a connection with each other once all the kids are gone and it’s just the two of us. Once we put it into perspective in that way it changed how we parented a bit not in a bad way our kids are always first in OUR lives but as individuals our partner are first. Love you guys and your marriage bond is clearly strong. ❤

Everyone has different views, but I have always been taught to put your husband/ wife first because the kids grow up and when they leave the house the wife and husband don’t have much have of a relationship and drift away, but you guys are doing great by setting time for just yourself, it’s also important and strengthens the relationship. Married life is hard, but both must put work into.
