Adele is one of the best songwriters of our generation, i love the fact that she sings Soul/Adult pop songs and still successful unlike most of the artists who chosed to make teen pop songs to stay relevant.

Despite Hello being overplayed, I actually really like that song. I am a drummer, and I couldn't quite articulate it, but that right there shows that care and attention is being made in every instrument to make the meaning of the some come alive through the music itself!

She was an unknown youngster when she wrote Hometown Glory and not an underdog. She was still a teenager when she wrote her first album. If you listen to her very early interviews, Adele always was confident regarding her work but never wanted to be a celebrity, she just wanted to sing. Even today if you as her about her career path, she will tell you the same , that's how you know she was as still is telling the truth and has not changed her back story even though she is now known all over the world.

When you said old soul, I immediately pictured Lana Del Rey not Adele, yeah Adele's melancholic sound is reminiscent off of a reachable past but I see her more as the classy and, in a way, timeless(?) and sophisticated songstress. Plus, no one has quite been "marketed" to a distinct of an image as Lana has been. I'd like to see your take on her overall music persona. Also, I guess you're only doing musicians that are very massive in the US but it would be interesting for you to study bands like The 1975, Bastille, and/or Car Seat Headrest.
@maocharlisme7 жыл бұрын
Lana is more of a soul from a different age, but generally still of a young psychological identity. This is often made more apparant through juxtapositioning her rebelious youth to the older, mature men she often falls for. So I think Lana del Rey is marketed as a young, oldfashioned soul lost in the contemporary age. And she always seems to both have one leg in past and one leg in the present and one arm reaching out to her peers and one arm reaching out to the freedom of not fitting in.
@cheesecakelasagna7 жыл бұрын
Charlye'Charleston yeah, I agree and the more I think about it, I think I can say that Lana Del Rey to Adele is to Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn. Audrey was known to be the classy lady who kept things elegant while Marilyn was shed more light on the sex appeal, same way Lana leans more onto making music about lust and such while Adele leans more on the broader sense of affection. And also how it always seemed like Marilyn (or Norma Jean) was ahead of her time or didn't fit in it well. I probably don't know what I'm talking about anyway so... i dunno.

Funny how Cold Shoulder was my introduction to Adele's music. I loved the melody, style, attitude, vocals. I was rather disappointed after discovering that 19 doesn't include more songs in the same vein. It's still a bop! I think what needs to be stressed more is that Adele seems to win over people with her genuinely lovely and warm personality. She is like a good mate you have known for ages, beeming with positive energy, who is always up for a laugh despite circumstances and willing to share positive emotions with you. She gives such impression when you watch her interviews, interactions with fans and onstage rants. Making others feel good is a rare quality. She is bringing people joy not only with her music but also with overall likeability.

These videos actually make me realize how much of myself there are in my own songs, that they are already original from the way that I write them, and how the style actually stays consistent. There's a whole fantasy universe behind them, that I build without even knowing it conciously. That's awesome. :)

This might seems very irrelevant to the Adele video, but by pointing out all of the details, esthetics and styles that she uses not only on strictly musical perspective, it made me realize that I actually have that sort of esthetic vision for myself. classic beauty? of what? A pig? Or a Cow? Even if she was skinny and not a drunk and a chain smoker she would still be ugly..
@The_Fat_Turtle6 жыл бұрын
She's not a "classic beauty" in that you can ask a million people to list their top 5 most beautiful celebrities and very few, if any, would say Adele. She is very beautiful to some and not to others, so she's not "classic" in that sense that we can't all agree on it. Now you say that about someone like Margot Robbie and pretty much everyone will agree she is incredibly beautiful, even if she's not their type.
@MissMollyDoll3115 жыл бұрын
She actually looks a lot like the lady that originally sang "don't tell me what to say"
@olika85 жыл бұрын
@@The_Fat_Turtle Lol to me Margot Robbie looks like a frog... Though I admit that objectively she is beautiful. At the same time I'd say the same for Adele: beautiful eyes, flawless complexion, full lips, thick and shiny hair. Aren't these the exact characteristics of real beauty? The 60's makeup suits her so much because it effortlessly underlines her natural beauty. To deny this fact is simply mean spirited (I'm not talking about you personally ofc)
