i always thought of the blood as the biblical interpretation. being washed in the blood of the lamb is accepting salvation. they’re being freed from the sheep mentality to go out and think for themselves. if you noticed, when they walked back out, they were clean. washed of their “sin” of blindly following what society tells you to do.

This song was released after a long absence of Slipknot albums. The way I heard it was all this new shit has no soul no emotion, like mumble rap. They want your attention but they don't say anything, don't try to teach you, don't try to make you a better person. They're not there for you and they don't care about you; they just want attention. This was a call to say "we're back, we are real, we care and we will teach" fuck all this new shit and come back to the fold. It was a call to action to the maggots (slipknot fans) to come back and get ready for the new album that dropped shortly after this single released. In many ways music has fallen far in the last decade, but you've got people like Em and Slipknot that are telling us that the newcomers are full of shit. That's the way I took it anyway. From what I heard the people in the video in the white sheets and masks were fans who thought they were going to a party for the anniversary of a slipknot album release and they wound up being in this video instead. That call to action in the middle there is strong, not only for music, but for the world in general; for the many problems facing our world today in justice, in politics, in law, in economics and in ecology. "I will not celebrate mediocrity. I will not worship empty shells. I will not listen to worthless noises. I will not subject myself to selected predictable choices. My time, my attention, my quality should not be bought and sold for convenicences sake, ever!" Fucking amazing song with a great message; slipknot at their best. 2020 has been hard, one of the worst years I can recall in every possible area; but it will soon be in the rearview and all of us, every single human being in America has some soul searching to do. It's time to decide our destiny for the future, live an all out life and don't listen to the talking heads. Forge your own destiny. Semper Fi America.

The slipknot fans are called maggots. That is what the outfits for those on the bus. Part of the reason for the video was as a battle cry letting the maggots know that after a long time since they dropped a record. Rumors were going around the slipknot was dead and this song basically announced to the fans that they are back. The blood spray was for feeding the maggots and bringing them more slipknot music

This song is basically a giant middle finger to "popular" culture. Worshipping "empty shells" and mediocrity like the Kardashians. Worthless noises like most of the "popular" music these days.
