Holland America Breakfast Food & Menus (Buffet, Main Dining, Room Service)

Check out the breakfast food from a Holland America cruise ship from the Lido Market buffet and the Main Dining Room. We also included room service menus for breakfast as well. We enjoyed the selection, and HAL had something for everyone, including organic soy milk, almond milk, lactose-free milk, gluten-free bread, smoked herring, and more.
At the main dining room the menu was quite impressive- we just wished we had the chance to order more dishes!
These were from our New Years 2022 cruise aboard the Holland America Nieuw Statendam.

I especially like the breakfast on board the New Amsterdam. I had various kinds of cereal, fresh toast and 🥞 pancakes. Freshly made while you wait. It was available early. Coffee was delivered to my stateroom.

I was on the Konigsdam in early December. I do not remember seeing that much selection in terms of fruit juices and topping on the Lido. In general, the Lido breakfast selections were pretty good. The only miss was a carnitas eggs benedict served on an english muffin that was not toasted. That ruined what was a good dish. As for the MDR, the best dish was the Aloo Masala and Egg Bhurji which had some great taste and was very fresh. The congee and the Pan Asian breakfasts were also quite good as were the Swedish pancakes. I tried my best to order every dish on the breakfast menu but it was not possible to do in six days. They appeared to be very short staffed in the MDR so make sure that you order EVERYTHING that you want when the waiter takes your order as you probably will not see him after the food is delivered.

In 2019 HAL had the little boxes of cereals to grab and go. Was nice as a snack on excursions. No boxes on Koningsdam the week of March 13 2022. I feel the boxes are more sanitary than turning those cereal dispensing wheels. But, in fairness, we didn't ask about boxed cereal. It may have been available. All food on HAL exceeded our expectations. We only grabbed snacks from the Lido, never had a meal there.

We haven't been on our annual cruise since Dec 2019 before the plandemic hit. We really miss it so your video brought back some wonderful breakfast memories! We've also never ordered Room Service and I totally understand tipping. But on a cruise, did you tip in cash or is that added on when (I'm guessing) you have to sign something proving you received it??

You would tip in cash, usually between $1 to $5 depending on how much was ordered. Typically you don't have to sign for anything unless you had ordered something that wasn't complimentary. Hope you guys get back to cruising soon!

Now that ships are starting to have full capacity and the buffet lines are self serve, if the cruise ships changed the serving spoons more often it will help cut down on spreading germs. Many people are upset about the crew not serving the items because of everyone using the same serving spoon. If you change them frequently, that will help cut down on how many germs are on the spoon as fewer people will have touched them. All it costs them is buying more spoons and having them washed. It's much cheaper than having crew serve or shutting down ships again with more COVID outbreaks. Another idea is to use the corners of your sail N sign card to push the buttons on the elevators. Less finger contact to spread germs. Many people have them hanging on their lanyards so they are easy to use. Just trying to come up with ideas to help not spread COVID or Norwalk virus.

Hi Joann and David, my go-to breakfasts when we cruised on the Celebrity Millennium back in November 2021 was corned beef hash, along with smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted English muffins. All areas, all alcohols, fancy coffees and canned water up to $11 each. Anything higher, like the $15 glass of wine, you must pay the whole thing, not just the difference. But PLENTY to choose from in the $11 package. Never need to sign anything either. That was the standard drink package and just 2 weeks ago. Fabulous!

Yup- that's why it's smart, money-wise, to book the inside cabins, because you get the same food as those in the balcony. Now guests who book suites do have their own restaurant, and it's suppose to better, but they'd still eat at the same buffet.

It makes it difficult for people with allergies to make appropriate choices. And asking the staff is time consuming and not always accurate judging from some of my previous cruise dining experiences.

Everytime I watch this blog about the HAL, I remember my late husband worked for how many years in HAL, different ship every year when he was alive and it hurt me much I cant control my emotions even its already years he passed, because we didn't received any benefits from HAL maybe because of the local agency. My husband worked that time when he was operated still in contract until he died and I was hoping that HAL company will give us cash assistance not for me but for my son who needs the benefits of his father.

The whole fruits looked scrubby. La Marcha Prosecco is a Gallo brand and is crap. Some other stuff look questionable. Brands of plant milk available tend to contain sugar/fillers. So much cold food. Congee was unexpected. Do enough people to eat it?
