Got back from the cruise and I can report that the location was not noisy even though it was right by the stairs. It was convenient in that it was two floors down from the dining room and the same elevator goes directly to the buffet and pool. The gangway was always at the opposite end of the ship but it was either on the same deck or one or two decks below which was also convenient. On the down side, within 24 hours of arriving home, I tested positive for Covid. Every new passenger was vaxxed and tested before boarding. I heard that the crew were tested every few days but many were in quarantine (unverified rumor). I also learned that people who did a turnaround cruise (they had been onboard the week before) were not required to retest. Heard that directly from passengers who had been onboard for multiple weeks so that's verified. Another item worth noting, this ship was allowing people to self-serve at the buffet and they were not insistent about hand sanitizing. That's something they've been doing since pre-Covid cruises to prevent norovirus so thought that was lacks. They had nice hand washing stations and Purell dispensers but I didn't see people using them. For what it's worth, I did use them including after getting food and before eating. I also tried to wear masks in crowded spaces, elevators, tour buses, and even the airport coming and going to the cruise.....still got it.

Hope you have now recovered. I'll be on the ship next Sat the 24th and liked your video. I had covid on March after a Princess cruise. Hope I'm still immune. I do have every booster possible and will mask up on my flights.

@@DiGeraghty I did recover. Luckily a mild case. Getting ready for my next adventure. My doc told me immunity is only good for about 90 days and then starts to wane. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Thank you for this overview of your cabin. I will be on the Zaandam next summer (to Alaska). What I find most useful is that I will be in Room 2653, on the opposite side of the ship. How were the outlets in your room? I only saw the one over the vanity in your video.

Sailing on her Feb 2023 for 14 day Panama Canal trip. Little nervous about sailing on her because she is smaller than other HAL ships we’ve sailed on and not much to do based on other videos of ship. Thanks for the video

Definitely less activities than a big ship but there were still things to do. My favorite thing was trivia. They had it several times a day. It's also a lot easier to get on and off the ship when there are fewer passengers! Have fun.

We are going on a 10 day Mexican riviera cruise in Spring...this will actually be our cabin! Were the beds comfy? Thanks for your video!

Yes, the beds and room were comfortable. The room could use some modern updates like a refrigerator would be a nice addition. I liked the cabin location although if you use the stairs some decks do not go from one end to the other. You have to go up and around but I can't recall which decks.

The dining room was decent food but not extraordinary. A lot of cruise lines seem to have cut back. The buffet was a buffet so what can you say lol. The steakhouse is a must do. Excellent.

Thanks for the cabin review. I'm actually in the process of booking a cruise on the Zaandam on the main deck...only interior is all i can afford though. Did the AC eventually cool down enough for you? My planned trip is to the Mexican Riviera so if not that's a little concerning!

We doing a Zaandam Cruise in Sept24. My travel agent found out for me you can reserve a fridge. Our stateroom its $50. for the entire 51 day cruise.
