don't expect everything s free when you come here. If you don't contribute, you gain just the basics.. very simple and fair.

Don't ask what others can do for you, ask what you can do for others.

A tenant of a rent house/apartment has a real powerful position in our country, one of the best in the western world. If you think your rent is too high for what you get, you can ask the Rent Commission to check if your house/apartment is worth the rent you pay. It is that easy. Only if you sublet you’re basically f*cked. And of course you need insurance against fire, who hasn’t? We even have two insurances if you own your home instead of renting it (renters only have the home contents insurance). You have a property insurance for in case the building burns down (and you will have to rebuild) and a home contents insurance for all your furniture, clothes, household appliances, valuables etc. which you lost by fire. It’s a Dutch (and German) thing to have insurance for everything.

Insurance for things like fire or the stuff you own costs practically nothing, so what are you talking about ?
