On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Resthaven, the Holland Fire Department, Tri-County Fire Inspectors, and EV Construction worked in collaboration to develop and exercise a site-specific emergency response plan for a newly constructed, independent living facility. This took place at The Farmstead located at 875 East 24th Street in Holland.
This event facilitated by the Holland Fire Department and Resthaven provided a proactive approach to the preparedness and response phases of the emergency management process. Fire Inspectors toured the independent living facility and developed a working plan to be used later in the morning for the completion of a functional exercise.
The exercise involved a fire simulation inside the building. In this scenario, the Holland Fire Department and their mutual aid partners initiated a response and activated the plan in coordination with Resthaven staff. The event culminated with a post-incident analysis with information that will be provided to Resthaven to finalize an effective response plan for their facility.
EV Construction is the construction partner for Resthaven on this new senior living facility. EV employees volunteered to be 'victims' in the exercise.
